< My avatar is obviously a strong contender.

    Other life-changing albums have been:

    -My Bloody Valentine - Loveless
-The Flaming Lips - The Soft Bulletin
    -Radiohead - The Bends
-Godspeed You Black Empereor! - Slow Riot For New Zero Kanada EP
-Blur - Modern Life Is Rubbish
    -Mogwai - Young Team
-Tortoise - Millions Now Living Will Never Die
    -Belle & Sebastian - Tigermilk
-Neil Young - After The Gold Rush
-Boards of Canada - Music Has The Right To Children

...In general I've found that the WoW community isn't exactly abundant with people who have the same taste in music as me. Lots of metal in this thread, as well as in a simliar thread on my guild forums.

Downtown Battle Mountain by Dance Gavin Dance.

Some of the best clean vocals I've ever heard intertwined with some excellent screaming, the riffing is beautiful.
One of the best post-hardcore albums ever recorded.

Not in Australia, and I like Australia. If you don't, you're a racist.

Really? Wow, I don't think I've ever met anyone who liked anything from that record besides the title track. Maiden even said that they really didn't like the album.
    Hm cool.

Up the Irons, mate! Hey, if you're into an eclectic mix of heavier music, give HeavyMetalRadio.com a listen. Playlist is mostly driven off song requests (i.e., you obtain 1 request credit for each song you rate; 1-5 stars). I'm usually plugged in while working. Have a software dev desk job so access is easy. Great resource to pass the time and even hear bands/songs that you may otherwise miss out on.

The last 2 albums by Avenged sevenfold. Just unbeleivable music. Great lyrics. Synester Gate's is overlooked as one of the greatest guitar players of all time. What can you say about the Rev's drums?(r.i.p.) Nothing excepat teh greatest drummer in the world Mike Portnoy considered it an honor to fill in for someone he influenced so greatly and was amazed when laying down tracks for the album. I can put them both on repeat all day never get sick of it.

Seriously. My favourite band by far is Metallica, but everything about Rust in Peace is pure brilliance. When I saw Megadeth last summer they played Rust in Peace from start to finish (minus Dawn Patrol and My Creation), was like I'd died and gone to metal heaven.
