Am I ready for heroics? Or is it the groups im getting?

As the threat header says, im wondering who is responsible for my hard life healing.

I personally feel im not ready for heroics for a few reasos the main being having a hard time in normal instances (trash mainly) healing the group.

    http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/characte...panadar/simple
(above URL may come back with '503' error, you just need to simple refresh the page)

Now, for example, the melee in my last group for normal Grim Batol took a battering, and it was hard at times to keep them up. Ive noticed this a few times in Grim Batol, but not all the time. Is this my healing skills or is this the fact that the melee dps are getting in shit they shouldnt be getting into?

(btw Im in boomkin spec for questing etc, and I use the same gear for both)

Any help or advice would be appreciated!!

Not letting me look at your armory but if I had to guess I would say you probably are okay but your groups have moved on. It sounds as if you are at the starting point gear wise. Most people are beyond that and play differently because of it. Heroics have become faceroll for most people so they forgo CC and the like. This is okay if the tank and healer are geared in heroic/raid gear. If they are in normal gear it causes problems.

Well, your item level is 326 and technically you need 329 so according to Blizzard, you aren't ready. At least your gear isn't.

Grim Batol is a rough one to start with.

Heroics can be a little bit more forgiving for under geared DPS than healers and tanks. Nothing wrong with sticking to normals for a couple more days.

For starters I would definitely recommend enchanting your 333+ gear. A lot of your gear does not have spirit. You need to replace your cloth items, from what I recall the leather specialization's 5% intellect bonus makes leather two tiers better than a cloth item, so you would have to replace a 333 leather item with a 359 cloth item for it to be a real upgrade. Also, you can reforge mastery and crit into haste, that would be a bonus.

Character sheet tells me Im Ilvl 333 :P. I will be crafting the 359 alchemy int trinket when I get back to SW from my dailies :P.

Yeh The leather legs are what I need to hit the Leather specialisation....trying to find a good easily obtainable pair (ER Revered, need to discover Vash'ir though :P) Or 2.2k JP (farming for JP now, but yeh, takes time....and the only legs 346 with haste).

Jodah, thats the trouble, they were lack luster peeps only hitting about 4- 6k luls. So am I right in thinking they are stuck in Wrath times still? lol.

If you don't try to circumvent the requirements for Heroics you will be fine, if you are going to circumvent them then you better know how to play your class well, the requirement is there for a reason.

Item level is the average item level of all gear in your bags/bank/equipped, which, according to armory, is 326 equipped, 328 average. There is a pair of spirit legs from Lost City of Tol'vir Siamat (last boss), with mastery, since it was buffed this patch they are quite good, especially over justice point legs which have no spirit.

Character sheet tells you what you have in bank, bags and equipped. If you have Agility gear in the bank and they're higher than the caster gear you are wearing, the character sheet will count the agi gear.

Your armory right now says 328, 326 EQUIPPED. That means you aren't geared for heroics. And grim batol REALLY is a bitch for undergeared people.

Ok, so it narrows down to the fact I need a bit more gear. focus a bit more on spirit and haste(?). and Grim Batol is a bitch of an instance anyways....so dont fret....

    Got it :P.

    Thanks for the assistance peeps

By wearing those cloth pants, you are loosing 5% int. That is a ton. Replace those with even a green and you'll see a large stat increase.

If you aren't having mana problems, your gear and spec if fine. if you are, switch to a moonglow spec.

Also, he said he hasn't healed heroics yet. Read the full OP before posting. He is having trouble in normals.

If you are having trouble in norms you probably need to stay in them a bit longer, practice healing a bit more, and get some gear. I'd suggest looking at the sticky or some of the other topics to see how people heal in 5 mans and see if it's matching up to how you play.

    You answered your own question.

The play style of the people you are grouping with could have a lot to do with it also, though. If people aren't CCing, aren't dodging fire, etc that will make your life a lot harder. Try a few runs with your guild and see how that goes.

Do what I did turn on the TV and farm this rare spawn Blazewing (look him up on wowhead cant link stuff yet) he drops 346 Healing legs. Doesnt hurt giving him 1-2 hours a day seeing if he spawns. With that you can spend more time using JP for other gear. And as for Grim Batol, that is not the Heroic to start out with.

IMO Queue up for VortexP or Lost City as those seem to be the easiest to heal IMO. Hope it works out man. Just remember don't give up it gets easier with gear and PRACTICE!

There is no shame in sticking to norms for longer. The iLvL is just a rough guide to stop people thinking they should instantly upgrade to HCs as soon as they hit 85. Its a kind of "are you sure about this?" barrier.

I know that my priest healer GF preferred to hang out in normals until she'd gotten rid of all her greens, because of the mana situation on HC bosses at the time. These days you'll hopefully find a lot better geared players so they're a bit easier. But at the end of the day, if you feel you're not ready, keep doing norms until you feel comfortable. Afterall, norms are a place to gear up and to skill up.

It might help if you switch out of Moonglow on the second tier of balance and put 3 points in Furor in the feral tree for the 15% increased mana and replace the gem in your headpiece to +20 haste +20 Spirit with a +30 spirit socket bonus instead of just +20 int +20 haste so you also gain your meta activation.

Our characters are wearing the same pair of underwear, since like, Level 1. Damn that's unsanitary as hell.
