Please only suggest stuff that's actually helpful. So while "what's your worst pug ever?" might be entertaining, it won't help anyone trying to get some help.

Huzah! DW tanking discussion in the house!

I would love some thread that helps break down stat weights and the reasons behind them. There is so much conflicting info out there and I am just the type of person that likes to know why I am supposed to do something a certain way. There have been some great threads that really did a good job of breaking down certain stats to explain why the were the better choice.

Seems like now would be a good time to get a new sticky on this for all specs and pve/pvp. Those seem to be the most common questions asked.

Well, there's a hot candidate for an unholy sticky, that will probably be stickied as soon as it's updated for 4.0.6

As for the stat weighs: If you mean the tanking ones, there's currently no definite stat weighs out there. :he pwnwear Avoidance vs Mastery thread is currently the only one attempting to figuring it out through complex forumals, which I can't even begin to understand.
I think the DPS ones should be relatively clear how they come into play.

They are clear for the most part, but you and I both know that does not stop people from asking. The tanking matters seem to be well covered and I was more interested in DPS weights for pvp as well as raiding.

I guess what I am trying to get at is the lack of a separate frost and unholy sticky.

Hey Zao, just wanted to say I appreciate all the dedication you put into this forum. (Mach weiter so!)
If I recall right there has been a thread about possible uses for Dark Simulacrum in heroics. I guess this would fall under the category of useful threads. (Gonna search the thread now and update with link later.)

Zao, why in the world would you put the DW tanking thread in here as helpful? I thought the answer was a resounding no, it is not viable. There are no changes to DW tanking status and until that time comes, do we really need any thread at all to promote that discussion.

That DW tanking thread is chock full of misinformation. It is not helpful at all. What is helpful is the sticky saying that DW tanking is not gonna happen.

Still would be great to post stickies for unholy and frost DPS seeing as there are none and the majority of questions I see are asking about them. Plenty of tank info and general mechanics, but nothing on frost/unholy specifically.

It's not as much helpful as it is informative.
DW tanking threads pop up at least twice a week, and since I lock and redirect those new threads anyway, I might as well link it in the sticky.

The thread is actually quite good, since it covers pretty much every argument that can be made for DW tanking and has a counterargument for each of them. And it also shows that there's no reason to go for DW tanking, since so far none of the pro-DW arguments have been proven/won over the contra-DW arguments.

As for DPS stickies: As written above, an unholy sticky candidate is currently being updated for 4.0.6, but there aren't any for Frost DPS or PvP. And none of the mods are capable of writing one that wouldn't just be a c&p of EJ.

I understand the copy and paste pov as well, but perhaps a c&p guide is better than no guide. Don't get me wrong, I obviously enjoy talking about that stuff entirely too much, but a sticky with all of the common answers would most likely help people get that info quicker. Not like going to EJ is hard, but most other classes have them readily available anyways just to answer those simple questions without having to direct someone to another site.

Feel free to tell me to know my role and let the mods run things at any time, Zao I should be getting ready to raid instead of jabbering anyways. Keep up the good work.

Those barely made it to 4.0 let go getting fresh updates. There were one or two candidates but they were never finished. And no one wanted to maintain one because they'd be kinda ignored because of the "why do you need a guide EJ has the best" mindset.
