Crossfire 2 Different GPU's?

Does it work?
For example XFX Radeon HD 6870 and the same brand 6970?

As long as the cards are the same series crossfire will work. However the better card will be throttled down to the speeds of the weaker card.

Well you can crossfire any 2 Barts cards or 2 Cayman cards but not a Barts with a Cayman like in your example.

At least before (in 4k series) the first two digits had to be the same for Crossfire to work, so for example 6950 and 6970 would work, but 6870 and 6970 will not.
