A lot of the movies you see now a days are more of the make you cringe variety. I don't consider those horror movies. I've noticed that the more blood and gore a movie adds, the more it takes away from the horror for me. I have no problem watching these kind of movies, but at some point you can't suspend belief anymore. When a movie gets to that point where the viewer can't really connect anymore, then that's where it loses attention and belief. The movies that get you in the frame of mind that makes you start believing what you're watching could actually happen are the movies that I'd consider horror.
