Is the picture below Brad Pitt or Angelina Jolie Yes or NO. What do you click?
Blizzard didn't fail. You did. You suck at account security, and you probably got your PW phished a long time ago. You probably unwisely use the same PW on your email, because people who come to illogical conclusions that blizzard got hacked usually have terrible judgement like that, and some automated checking was probably done by the theives on your email account, which is not difficult to do. All it takes is regular POP3 requests from anything the email service thinks is a mail client.
I love the typical mentality of people that fall for identity theft and phishing schemes. It's so obvious that the only kind of person who would actually fall for it is the same kind of person who can't figure out that they screwed up, so they blame some random person. It's the equivalent of loaning your credit card to someone so they can go buy you booze and cigarrettes, and then blaming the bank when they charge up $1500 in porn and amazon orders.

^Crap like this is why battle.net threads get locked. Blizzard is not on a crusade against you.
This. I've clicked on some bad links, sometimes on purpose =D and sometime by accident, and my account has been active since a month~ after the public release of WoW with the same 2-3 passwords and never been hacked. Recently got a Droidx and got the authenticator because it's free.
There is no reason anyone should ever be hacked if you have any brain power. OP won't be back to reply, but what an idiot.
I was 'hacked' twice, prior to the introduction of authenticators. I obtained an authenticator, as soon as they became available, and haven't had any problems since.
To quote John Wayne, "Life is hard.....But, It's harder, when you're stupid."

But, Stupid is forever.
Lol woah, I wasn't blaming blizzard, that was actually supposed to be sarcasm, but I forgot sarcasm doesn't work well through the internet. But I have no idea how they got my password, I had an authenticator on my account for 2 years, removed it last night and this morning I was hacked. Also I bought gold in like 2007 on a different computer, this current computer is brand new, so I don't think I have any malware regarding WoW on this computer.

Your account safety is not Blizzard's business to keep safe but yours.
Keyloggers and phishers might have installed a bunch of programs into your computer.
Why is it that when something bad happens to people in WoW its always Blizzard's fault? Why not stop and think for a second and see what YOU did wrong rather than put blame on the company who has a myriad of other better things to take care of than your account's safety.
You can have your characters restored if you put up a petition with Blizzard.
Scan your computer for malicious software, change your password, if you have an iPhone or iPod Touch, go get the free mobile authenticator.
Report all your missing gear and Blizzard will give them back to you.
When I got hacked one or two years ago (when I thought that I was invulnerable from hackers) which was during the time when Blizzard made a universal Battle.net account and people were supposed to bind their WoW accounts with their battle.net. Someone bound my account with THEIR battle.net, stole/sold my things and used my poor mage for their goldfarming businesses. I called Blizzard. 30 minutes later, I got my account back and returned to me to MY battle.ent account and I just simply put up a petition to Blizzard, got an authenticator, cleared my PC of any malicious software. I got all my things back.
Your account's safety is your business and your responsibility and not Blizzard's.

I don't think sold soulbound gear would net anyone that much...

I knew I was excepting something like this when I read the topic. Hah.
Learn to use your computer safely, it's not Blizzards fault you fail at it.

You can get that malware in 10 seconds after you boot it up. It being "brand new" has nothing to do with anything.
Yup, blizz gives away account information!
Seriously, you probally had some virus hidden on your PC and the moment you took your Authenticator off they were able to get in.
Definitely had malware or else someone that you know well knows your PW, or knew your secret question or whatever for email. Or even better, hacked your email years ago and set up forwarding to a different account.
Completely agree with this. If Blizzard didn't keep personal information safe then they wouldn't be in business and almost all their customers would be having issues. You'll probably think it is a conspiracy on their part, but think about all the extra work on their end they have to do every time this comes up. Next time perhaps check your computer and make sure it's even safe? Especially if you are getting "fraudulent charges" reports.
I know if this was me, the first thing I would be doing is figuring out why I'm getting those reports and making sure everything is clear on my end.
Long story short. Basically it's your fault and not theirs or this would be an everyday occurrence.
Saw this after I made my post. You know those sites don't get you by "malware" from their site. It's because 99% (yes, made up but to the point) of the people who buy gold are the ones who are stupid enough to make an account on their site with the same information as their WoW login.
Look, another "I got hacked, it must have been Blizzard!!!" posts.
But really, it's most likely something you did. Prolly had a keylogger.
