You could try Skada damage meters? I think that one is more lightweight than Recount.

I used one through most of WotLK called TinyDPS. It's very lightweight, and is fairly accurate. The only issue I had with it was that in order to keep it lightweight, it didn't specify which abilities were doing what damage, it just tracked your damage as a whole. It also doesn't track most the things a more advanced damage meter can, only damage, DPS, healing, and HPS.
