Please Explain - How did a team member gain so much Personal Rating?

Here's the info if you can explain to me what exactly happened. The guy I am arenaing with keeps insisting that games are matchmaker that is based off your gear level which I keep telling him he is wrong and that its based off everyones MMR.

Now the 2nd thing. We've been stuck around 1700 in 2's because we're playing a retarded comp that is useless against people with half a brain. Anyway. A higher rated player (whos 2300 in 3's) joined our 2's and played 16 games with my partner...they went 8 wins 8 losses. Now both my partner and my PRs were both identical at 1700 before this, for every win we got 7-9 points, same for losing.

But now after he went 8Wins/8losses with this other guy, his PR skyrocketed from 1700 to 1900. How the hell did he gain 200 PR from going 8 and 8 with this other guy?

*If the reason he gained 200 PR going from 1700 to 1900 with only a 50% win ratio getting 8 wins and 8 losses, is it because the guy he played with has a much much higher personal matchmaking rating? - If so...if I invite someone who has 0 MMR to my team and I arena with them...will my PR skyrocket as well?

while he was at 1700 rating and playing with a person at 2300 rating, he was matched against people with 2300ish ratings. being 1700 and beating people with 2300 nets you more points then winning against 1700 rating people. and the losses from losing to 2300 people while being 1700 isnt much.

Theres a hidden MMR associated with each char. The high rated person boosted your teams MMR and they were winning against teams with higher MMR than your teams current rating. Your partners PR went up because he was winning matches against higher MMR teams. You would gain the same benefit if you played with someone with a higher MMR and won 50% of the games. You will not receive this if you play with someone with 0 hidden rating.

No one has 0 MMR, you start with 1500 and go from there. The people on the team each have a personal MMR, an average of those makes the team MMR, and you are matched based on that MMR.

So if your MMR is 1500, while your teams in 1750, you will gain more points until you approach the team MMR.

However, if you have a 2200 MMR, and your team is 1750, you will not be able to get to 2000 very easily.

If 2 people make a new team, and they both had 2200 MMR, they will climb to 2000 very quickly, aka earning more points for games at higher rankings, versus 2 people who have 1500 MMR who would climb to 1300 quickly.

yeah the major problem with this season is the inflated mmr, with skilled players, you can actually snag 2200 in 50~ games (i recived mine in 55 games) but there is a downside to this as well, the higher the mmr, the higher tier players you will face, people with high synergy, and could net you a farm status until your mmr drops enough to get a lower tier team
