    From Dust

    Hi there.

Recently - which means about a month ago - I came across a preview in a German game-magazine about a game that piqued my interest.

It was about a game called "From Dust", a new type of god-simulation. In it, you shape the natural world[Water, sand, stone, lava, vegetation] to form an island and to protect your tribe from outward influences. (All of it with an awesome physics-engine.)

Since I haven't found any threads on it yet and there has not been a statement about the release date for months, I thought I might just advertise this here and hope that someone is better informed than me when it comes to the release. (Discussions would be alright aswell, I think...)

    Here's the E3-Trailer:

And here is a link to a Tech Demo on youtube: (Watch this if you want to see how the game works)

    And it's facebook-page:

Hope others find this game interesting aswell, would really like to see it have good sales and thus get some additions. [They were thinking of including e.g. a multiplayer, if it were successful.]

Before I forget, it will be available via Download from Steam, Xbox Live Arcade and Playstation Network and (probably) cost 15 bucks. [Can't say whether that's dollar, euros or punds, though.]

PS: @Mods: Hope this is not too much advertising, I kinda liked the concept so I thought of showing the important stuff to people who might visit this thread.

PPS: They have waterfalls... Waterfalls. WATERFALLS!!!

Edit: New interview with Eric Chahi, can be watched here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JV4xE4tFolo
Sadly, no statements about a release date.

Its an impressive concept. The water effects and dynamics are amazing. I will keep a closer eye on this title.

March 11th has been mentioned a few months ago, since then no news. [Except that I recently saw an Ubisoft employee state that the project was not dead. Yay. Source: Here, long URL. ]

Also gonna add now that it's probably gonna cost 15 bucks (no clue whether that's dollar, british pounds or euros) and be available via Steam, PSN and Xbox Live Arcade.

It was called Black and White and is probably the most famous example of a "God game", though it has almost nothing in common with "From Dust".

BTW: Black and White also got awarded the title as the most overrated game of all time. :P
Was fun, but seriously glitchy/buggy... could've used a LOT more work, especially the creature-behaviour. Oh, how often my pet lion starved because he was unable to eat what was 5 meter in front of him...

Ohh, I love God games... This seems fun.
    Because ten billion
    years' time is so fragile
    so ephemeral…
    it arouses such a
    bittersweet,
    almost heartbreaking fondness.

(Sadly, no statement about any release date.)
