Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin, kinda tops em all for me. As a drummer, I enjoy a lot of Zeppelin's work, and even though the drums on that particular song aren't the normal Zepp style, it still kicks ass.

I once read an argument that "Classic Rock" was defined by anyone who was no less than three times removed from Clapton.
E.G.:George Harrison was good friends with Clapton, so that makes him classic rock. Harrison's solo producer was Phil Specter, so that makes him classic rock as well. Etc. Etc. It's actually an amazingly accurate formula!

    Buffalo Springfield-For What it's Worth
    Creedence Clearwater Revival-Fortunate son
Blue Öyster Cult-Don't Fear the Reaper

I could go on and on but I'll end it there
I love music from these times this thread finally compelled me to register >.>

Page and Clapton were both guitarists for The Yardbirds, so that makes Led Zeppelin classic rock, but you knew that anyway.

Without a doubt, "Achilles Last Stand" by Led Zeppelin.
He cried in a whisper at some image, at some vision—he cried out twice, a cry that was no more than a breath—"The horror! The horror!" -Joseph Conrad, Heart of Darkness

    Most def.
The Yardbirds were the primordial sauce for modern rock even before bands like Cream and The Jimi Hendrix Experience took off (which in turn gave people like Zep shoulders to stand on).
All 3 of their guitarists were on the cutting edge of experimentation, before people knew what wah-wahs or distortion sounded like.
They're one of the most underrated bands of all time.

Pretty awesome for 66, considering everyone was still playing 50's rock more or less.

I hope everyone also listens to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HNzmrEgz_GI "The Animals - It's my life" the first 3 seconds of applause is kind of loud. But it's a great song.
