    Kernal Data Inpage Error.

Hi. I've had my current computer for a good 5-6 years and over this time there have been no problems whatsoever until recently. Yes, I will buying a whole new computer very soon but I really want to know what the issue is with this once.

About a month ago my hard drive wasnt being reconginsed by the motherboard and during the POST it would not show up therefore I couldn't log into my computer. I inserted the Windows Installation disk and tried chkdsk /r, fixmbr and fixboot but the computer would just BSOD. I tried reloading windows but again the computer would blue screen. I bought a new WD Caviar Green 1TB harddrive, reinstalled windows and everything seemed fine.

However whenever I am playing a computer game (SC2) or have multiple things open at once my computer will just freeze then blue screen and say something about a Kernal Data Inpage Error. I recently adjusted my Page file but this hasnt helped anything. I researched this problem and people were saying it can be a memory or HDD problem.. My HDD is only 1 month old and it works fine in another computer.. So it must be the memory (RAM). I've got a weird RAM setup.. All are DDR2, 1GB, 512MB, 512MB, 512MB. My PSU is also playing up aswell.. could this affect it?

I really need some advice as to settings I could change to make this problem stop or do I just need to leave this ancient computer and move on? If someone could explain this probelm in a non technical language it would be apperciated.

    Thankyou.

Try googling Memtest. I haven't used it myself but I have read about it helping find memory problems, if that is what's causing your problems. (it does sound like new computer time though)
