OMG I CAN'T WAIT!!!! I really do need to reread the books though, watching the trailer there's so much that I recognize but at the same time don't remember as clearly as I'd like. I'd like to at least get through the third book again before the season starts. Should have plenty of time as long as school and work don't decide to kick my ass this next month!

    Can't wait for this season.

Last season was quite shit in my opinion... But at least this season Joffrey dies! Can't fucking wait to watch that cunt squirming on the floor

I just started watching this on Showtime. I was really impressed with the quality. Might have to go buy the DVD's to get fully caught up before Season 3.

That's Season 4. Book 3 is covered in Season 3 and 4, and that doesn't happen before well into the book. While I see why ending it with the Red Wedding would make some sense, I doubt they can get that far with season 3. Will probably end around the time Arya gets captured by the Hound and Jon leaves the wildlings, since that starts a second arc that's different for them.

I think the Red Wedding is in Season 3. Certainly based on the comments from the creators.

Picked up my Lannister cover set from Best Buy earlier this week, some great stuff. The making of the Blackwater thing is especially good.
yeah it's freakin lame, I dont see why the extra wait either, as Bluray is region free... They just hate the UK .

as for the blacked out section, yup, all those things are going to be aawweessoommee and yeah, that makes sense for the person in the hood, didn't think about that.

The Red Wedding is already confirmed for Season 3 Episode 9, directed by David Nutter, based on on-set reports stating they filmed a massacre and a scene in which a major character's head was severed and sewn onto an animal's body.

It's also likely that some of Books 4/5 (as they occur mostly simultaneously) will bleed into the end of Season 4. Keep in mind that the showrunners have said they don't intend to strictly adapt as "1 book = 1 season."

I would like to read the books but I find the TV show fantastic and don't want to spoil anything.

Book 4/5 starts vastly different arcs for the different characters though, and while the last episode of season 4 might show some stuff so it doesn't end so sudden, I think they will keep it like that. 1 book = 1 season probably applies to the fact that there's two seasons covering book three, and that they will probably blend 4 and 5 together in two seasons.

tbh I think it would be quite a good idea to merge Crows/Dragons and then split them chorologically into two seasons (which is what he should have done with the books) so you don't have whole huge chunks of one character, followed by a series or more without them

Of course that's what they'll do. No way will they have half of the cast not in a whole season.

    That's what they're doing although I don't have a citation.

About the trailer: I'm worried that they'll turn my man Tormund Giantsbane into a villain.

Nah I don't think they'll do that. They'll probably make him an honorable guy like he was in the books.

He pretty much became Jon's right-hand-man towards the end of Dance, so I doubt he'll go evil.

Yeah I'm not sure why I wrote that as if it was my idea , what I MEANT to say, but it got lost in the "Typing at wtf in the morning" mindmelt was "as far as I know, they are blahblah splitting blah" and I 100% agree that it's a good idea, for all the reasons that any sane person can think of.

Nah, they couldn't do that That's what I really loved about the Wildlings, with the exception of Rattleshirt, they're not BAD people, Mance just wants to be free, same as all people. They couldn't make the Wildlings villains without making VAST changes to their characters. I mean hell compared to most of the other groups in aSoIaF, the wildlings are probably the LEAST villainous

If they have Tormund climbing the Wall he might end up taking the place of Styr - leading the attack on Castle black, and getting killed during it. Not sure how it would work otherwise.

Hello guys , long time no post in here thread , but as S3 approaches i got myself a severe case of the urge and itchy fingers.
I have a question for you all , what will you do if George.R.R doesn't finish 6th or/and 7th before the show catches on and bypasses the books ( likely to happen for book 7 at least ) ? Will you be watching the show or wait for the book ? i myself am torn but probably i will be waiting for the book before watching the show.

I strongly doubt that will happen tbh Buc, If I HAD to hazard a guess I'd say that GoT would go on "Hiatus" if it ever caught up with the books. In the HIGHLY unlikely event of the TV show continuing past the books... I'd watch the show, as long as it was approved by george it would sooth the itch, and give us some nice "filler" to keep us going till the book came out. I mean the book is ALWAYS going to be better, so watching the show would be like "Song of Ice and Fire: Light" , we get a rough idea of the story, keep that monkey off our backs and then when the books come out, find out the REAL story, including all the thought process and stuff that doesn't translate properly to the screen, but is so core to the books.

I think the more pressing issue here... is do you think George would "rush" the books, to keep ahead of the show....

I think that if it was needed they would do a spinoff to hold people over, either one of the books set in the same universe or something showing more backstory like Roberts Rebillion
