Your final product of avoidance includes the base avoidances which - at least in my case as a Nelf Protection Warrior - is 4.05% dodge and 5% parry. These base avoidances are completely unaffected by DR. If I wanted to balance my parry and dodge to minimize the loss from DR, I'd get way too much dodge if I only looked at the percentages.
