    Xbox 360 vs. Wii...

Could someone help me make an educated decision as to whether to get a 360 or a Wii? My mother and I have decided it's time to invest in a modern game console and we're not sure which one to get. I haven't bought a game console since I got my PS2 back in 06', so I'm clueless...

    Apples vs Oranges.

(As Punks said) Xbox for gaming (serious/good graphics/sometimes challenging), and Wii for more family oriented games (Fun/lower graphics/not so challenging).

    a million times Xbox 360...

You can get a kinect for it and basically turn it into a wii, but better.

All the Wii really has is family and fitness games, Xbox's are open to more genres and have better graphics.

It's not just me being a fanboy either, I own both...

with the kinect and now more kid / family friendly titles the wii is basically only for playing in groups. Party games ( goof off games?)
have both and don't really enjoy the Wii anymore after their title releases started lacking they do get a good one every once and a while; but for all around satisfaction for all family members I'd say x-box. Just don't let the youngsters watch the new Mortal Kombat game

I forgot to mention something that could possibly help. She wants to be able to stream Netflix to the TV... I am into the gaming part of it, but I would prefer a regular console over a Wii- although when we had one it was fun. I liked having VC.

She is also not into gaming. She plays Pogo, Farmville and it's vile spawn, etc... I on the other hand am. I have an NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, PS2, PSP, and both GBA models.

If you could recommend something for Xbox she would like, that would be wonderful.

And Elween, I REALLY wanted a PS3 but the thing is out of my price range.

The ps3 has way more options for streaming media there is hulu netflix and even a web browser you can surf the net with. I own both the xbox 360 and ps3 and i have to say i use the ps3 for entertainment purposes besides gaming much much more. one thing to consider is that the xbox 360 requires a gold subscription to use netflix or game online the wii does not nor does the ps3.
tl;dr Is just another way of saying I am about to troll

I would go with an Xbox 360. You get to enjoy more "serious" games like Halo, CoD, Assassin's Creed, ect., but there are still things like Little Big Planet and Kinect games (Which I don't know anything about.) which are good for family fun.

Wii is still good for classic "Family Fun Night" or whatever your need may be. You get games like Mario Kart which are really fun, but you miss out on "serious" games for when it's not family time. There are some good single player games on Wii, but they don't stand up to the variety with Xbox 360.

PS3 has a lot of media options but it's slow-loading and the chat options are weak compared to the 360, you have to pay for Xboxlive but tbh for £40 a year you get your money's worth, PSN just seems crap by comparison

I haven't played my Wii in forever, Nintendo sold out to mass market trash games

Depends what your mother wants to do with it if she wants to play games that are easy and motion based or if she wants to sit down on the couch and fire up a game you need to figure that out first.

360 has Netflix, Zune Marketplace, compatibility with your computer via Windows Media Center, access to Facebook, and a few of those Pogo games if I recall correctly.

Yeah there's that. Got Darksiders on Steam for £5 the other day, plugged my 360 controller into my computer and it just went "yep that's fine, play"

Was seriously impressed by how easy it was

Wii has Animal Crossing: City Folk.

    Wii all the way.

    PS3 & Wii > 360

I play the PS3 and the Wii a lot more than I would play a 360.

PS3 AND Wii both have Free Online play which the 360 you have to pay for. But like people are saying, it depends, if you want friendly family games, I'd go with the Wii.

I don't expect some guy and his mom to be playing shooters online, which frankly is all the 360 has going for it

All my favorite franchises are nintendo. You can get net flix for wii now.
Xbox is the grown up choice. Wii will still be able to entertain you.
It really is apples and oranges

Lol no... Xbox 360 is more than just the craptastic CoD series. It's also got some of the best RPGs and fighting games. There are also a slew of family and fitness games (I know because I own a few) coming out for the Kinect.

Aside from the lack of web browser, the 360 has more going for it than the Wii by a long shot.
