I suppose I'm still sad that for having a togruta on the front page of the website, and as one of the earliest depictions of possible races, they are so far apparently NOT a playable race. I am a sad panda.

Arenas actually killed WOW PVP for me and finally balancing issues endlessly affecting PVE, which killed WOW in whole for me.

So i don't think arenas is good idea for TOR

But with TOR designing classes with PVP in mind from the beginning, they could actually make it work. WoW changed things to accomodate PVP, which is why there were so many issues.

The two logical solutions are either a: seperate effects on players/NPCs, or player-like spell lists and tactics for NPCs.

Honestly, if a game can design an NPC who jumps behind a rock, and uses tactics against me, I'll suffer some pvp balance issues.

I liked his style overall. I thought he did a really good job talking about GW2, but fell pretty short of the mark in regards to TOR. I'm just saying, I could do better. =p

My complaint about the TOR segment was his choice of video. Those are SO horrible looking compared to anything recent. it's funny for me, cause I just saw that on the beta. The difference in detail is SO big. Also, he just didn't hit points like he did in the GW2 section. He skipped a lot of things that should not have been skipped.

Still, overall, I liked his style.

I just want to add something. There's been some debate on what build I was playing around with when I was playing last weekend. One of the community managers allowed me to quote him from an email about the game itself.

According to him, and I quote:

"...all the issues you may have posted publicly that you had with the game have been addressed in the latest build. You weren’t playing the latest build of the game, and newer builds address the majority of your criticisms."

Personally I wasn't exactly sure what he was referring to, but since I only posted here on mmo-champion, I have to believe it was in response to my unbiased review that I posted a few pages back.

Aye they moderate quite aggressively, I've already had one of my posts removed for calling out some guy on advertising his guild website through the official forums.
I'm definitely not posting anything regarding leaks or game testing, don't want to risk being thrown on the not-getting-beta pile. :P

I actually probably won't play the game until official release, cba ruining that "new mmo" experience on a buggy game. no matter how polished it is, open beta's always have some horror moments where's you're stuck on a non-updating quest, there's server issues, etc.

as for closed betas, well, anyone remember Town-in-a-box? DD took me AGES to do those quests in the cata beta

While I appreciate the notion of Betas, and believe they're necessary, they're absolute garbage to judge a game by all things considered.

Games with good betas:
Age of Conan
Warhammer
Aion

Yet all three games turned out to be complete and utter rubbish once you got more than 1/3rd of the way through the leveling curve.

Would totally disagree with all of those, unless of course you mean open beta, which gives you very little beyond the first quarter of a game if you're lucky.

I was in Warhammer Alpha, all the way through launch. The tier 1-2 open beta's they did only showed how much fun the early tiers were and how much potential the game had. Late tier 3 and beyond is when the game started to show its issues and most people in the beta wrote about them on the forums, most complaints, suggestions, and criticism were ignored (not all of course, but some classes were basically ignored in the last few stages of the beta and went live as garbage or completely OP).

Aion didn't have a real NA beta, and only gave players enough time to get in their early-mid twenties at best (unless of course you went never leave the computer nasty). The weight of Aion's grind and the siege issues don't really take shape till late game.

Conan... no reason to repeat everything I've been typing. Give or take it went through the same style beta's and all their issues came to light late game.

I'm not going to comment or speculate on the depth of Tor's late game testing, but I do hope its there. I will say at this point many of the testing information coming out is from the first twenty'ish levels.
