i have at least 30 gb in my world of warcraft folder becuase ive been playing and downloading patches since vanilla. my question is if i deleted wow and only installed from the cata disk will my game work properly and would i need the 30 gigs of crap in my wow folder?

You could install straight from the disc without problems (although you'd still need to patch in everything that was added after the disc was made), but looking at my WoW folder shows that it's at 29.1GB, so you probably won't lose very much by reinstalling. WoW is just a big game.
