Will there be a AM3+ socket?

Just wondering if anyone has heard whether or not AMDs next socket type is going to be AM3+ or a new socket type? Also I've noticed there are motherboards with AM2/AM2+/AM3 socket types, will it be likely that when AMD releases their new cpu that there will be motherboards that use both the current and and next socket type? Not sure how AMD has worked in the past.

Yes there will be an AM3+ socket. Select AM3 boards will support AM3+, but will have limited featuresets compared to a true AM3+ board. Go google AMD Bulldozer.

hmmm well thats disappointing that kind of ruins my plan of just getting a 955 be right now and then upgrading the motherboard and later upgrading the cpu depending on money since its limiting.

AM3+ motherboards should support AM3 CPUs.
