Archeology: Life after 525

SO...I've been 525 for awhile now, and at the risk of sounding completely inept, 2 questions. (1) What is the greyed out "race" and how to unlock and (2) What are my skill benefits other than receiving more frequent rares and digging anywhere?

Blizz will add more races onto arch right now its good to be 525, because you can unlock extra bosses in ZG.

If it's greyed out, you haven't found one of their artifacts/fragments. Nerubian/orc/dranei tend to be grayed out because it's so damn easy to hit 525 in just Azeroth.

Thanks, I had read about the ZG bonus and I'm mildly excited, was just hoping this would be a more applicable proff :P

The greyed out race seems to be an explorer's hat or something of that sort, I have all the reg races

New race being released probably. Elemental maybe? /shrug

he means the race all the way at the bottom with the Harrison Jones hat and the cross shovels. It is most likely a race that Blizz has yet to add and will do so in a later patch. However it could become archeology challenges if they will add a new race with another icon. No one really knows what it is yet except for blizz.
