    Price/Performance Cores

I present to you the fruit of about 30 minutes of work:

If you spot any inconsistancies please PM me.
    Prices: http://www.newegg.com/
    Performance:

And for the 965/955 per Vesseblah's request.

A few core prices weren't able to be found on Newegg.com. While the really old cores were left out of the graph, a few prices were improvised by taking the average of 12 prices randomly pulled from Google.com shopping. Outliers of $50 dollars or more from the average were not included and a new number was drawn. Luckily I didn't have to draw too many.

Graphs which are original to me that appear on any site other than MMO-Champion are stolen and should immediatley be reported to both me and the webmaster of the offending website. Thank you.

Should've included PhenomII x4 955/965 since those tend to have better price/performance ratio than either Athlons or the 6-cores.
Never going to log into this garbage forum again as long as calling obvious troll obvious troll is the easiest way to get banned.
    Trolling should be.

I would if I had data on that graph for those cores. If you're willing to collect some, or know anyone that can do it with stock speeds, I'd appreciate it.

    Bit sad how i3 540 = Phenom II x4 970 -_-

Isn't it? I tried to make this as clear as possible, so I appreciate any constructive criticism.

Nice work, but a bit misleading when it comes to the I5 2500K and I7 2600K.
These are made for overclocking, they can get up to 4.0 Ghz even with a stock cooler.
The I3 2100 looks great because it's already at its max speed.

You're free to interpret the results of this whichever way you want. Personally, I'm more astonished that the 955 and 965 had more points per $ than the i5 and i7.

It's a really speedy dual core. Under certain circumstances, the phenom will score higher. Others, not so much.

Just wondering how you came up with these numbers?

It seems incredibly obvious... I took the performance score and divided it by the price.

    .. without accounting for overclocking(-potential)!

EDIT: where I actually would put the i3-540 ahead of the i3-2100, if you're thinking shortsighted, and not "futureproofing" (a ridiculous term, when you have to upgrade motherboards ever-so-often, even in the AMD-camp, even though they pride themselves that you don't :< )

You don't know how many times I've been tempted to put "Future proofing is overrated. There. I said it." in my sig.

I bet an Athlon 64 FX57 at its original MSRP would be even more hilarious. xD

Thanks bud! If you have any cores you would like to add, just post here with a link to their SysMark Score, their name, and their price off of NewEgg.

I was going to suggest a 2x Athlon 64 FX-74 under AMD's old QuadFX enthusiast thing... but I can only find Sysmark 2004 scores for it.

Also the MSRP of it would be over 2000 bucks. xD

That was the chip i always wanted when i was on my A64 3200+ system. $1031 release price though. I don't recall how many cores it had. Was it 2, or 4? I'm sure it was 2, but i genuinly can't find an answer on it (it has been 6 years since release).
Hahahaa. The FX-57 was a single core.
