Never mind, abandoning thread, have a nice discussion.

I wouldnt worry to much about 2012 because basicly nothing will happen, since the end of the maya-calender is pretty much that... The end of a calender. I also wouldnt really count on a rebellion lead by maschines. Go around to the MIT, ask them about their robots... They are still busy with walking straight on their own. Nope... no danger here.

Mankind will most likely wipe out itself because they either blow each others heads off over the last remaining drops of oil, or due global warming. We'll see. So i guess mankind is doing like they where the last 40 years pretty much. They just became more honest about that they give a shit about each other, and that money is totaly awsome. Luckily, im a Shark. Cheers!

    what can we do?
most of mankind will have to die. Then we can have wild animals that we can hunt again and live our lives the way our ancestors have. Our lives will be harder, but only this way evolution can work. In our current society, the weak, that would normally not survive, do survive and produce offspring. This results in a weakening of the gene pool. The only problem is that no one wants to decide who must die (and those who do are crazy racists). So, we need a war. A war that kills most of the worlds human population. But then there is the problem, that war in our day does not mean that the strongest men and women will survive. Maybe only the weak (cowardly and rich) people will survive. Then it's all worse then before.

i do not know what will come, but i fear the worst. It al began when we started farming the land and thus manipulating nature. More food than what is natural resulted in too many humans surviving. And that too many humans exist is the core problem.
So you want to cull the race and make us go back to... Anarchism, or whatever we had when we were savages? Thankfully, you are not a world leader, cause I'd be scared shitless if we had people like that in power. Guess what, Sherlock? We evolved from living like animals hunting, now we are supposed to evolve and travel through the stars. That's the point of a civilized race, evolving further and further, and not living like savages until a friggin meteorite wipes us out.

But a friend of mine thinks like you, and it creeps me out, he gives shitty example about how society is wrong while he spends a lot of time on his FB and the Internet... People like that are hyprocrites.

Yea, it kinda sucks but those are the guidelines. I hate it, but I've never mentioned religion again in the forums, just in case :S

By the way, about your previous point, I still think that the closest "Big" discovery could be quantum computing, but we don't even know if it'll work.

Theres a solution for your dilemma, its called a psychiatrist. seriously man if thats an honest post you should seek some help, you sound disillusioned and depressed.

Has for the state of mankind, well we are still here, which we shouldn't according to the end of the world projections that started since.... hummm since we have written records i think. We are still driven by fear, hate, love, money, compassion, ambission and sometimes lunacy more then often incited by cultism and religion.

My predictions is that we will inhabit this earth for a few more millenia until eventually we expand beyond our solar system, not because of drying the earth of resources, because our ingenuity will solve whatever problems will arise, but because we will have the technology for it.

after i've been on the internet... i have lost every single hope i had for mankinds survival

but heey thats just my opinion

Mankind is doing pretty well at the moment. Not likely to last tho. One good sized solar flare would knock out most of the world's power grid; you can imagine what kind of havoc that would cause.
Restarting civilization from scratch wont happen again because most of the world's easily accessable resources have been stripped. (This means we wont have another bronze age, iron age)
As technology places more and more power in the hands of the individual, it'll probably come down to something like a small group of terrorists unleashing a geneticly tailored pandemic, or a nanobot that does nothing but replicate itself.
Either way mankind as we know it today is likely to end in the next hundred years.

Ask the question again in 1.000.000 years, would love to see the answer =)

And for our Old Mother Earth, she will be fine, we are just a tiny fraction of her experience since life evolved in our region of the universe =)

Take good care of Mother Earth,
    We do not own her,
we just borrow her from our children

But yes, most of mankind is doing ok

Horribly degenerating, as always :\ More and more people dream of being rich parasites, not working but mindlessly spending money on items they don't really need. Vanity. Egoism. Ignorance. There's more and more of us, but I wonder how many people could sincerely answer "yes" when asked if they really did good and useful (for humanity) things in their life.

We're doing ok I guess but I feel we're pretty doomed. Lets face it, now that nukes are invented the clock is ticking. In the past 60 years there have been so many flashpoints that could have developed into full scale nuclear war. Now look forward to the next 1,000 years, how many more will there be? Sure you could say the fact that nuclear war never happened shows that MAD works, but it only needs to fail once for it to be all over. One mad dictator, one system malfunction, one misunderstanding, one step too far and its back to the bronze age with humanity, or worse.

Then again, its no bad thing that a species so fundamentally destructive and emotion driven doesn't live long enough to infect the rest of the galaxy.

lets see corrupted politics leaders with an insane thirst for power. The majority of population thinking only about themselfs spoiled rich people buying shitloud of crap our bosses for companys leaving with miljons in there pocket instead of solving the worlds starvation and climate issues and the fact that the ice is melting and in theory will ruin alot of drinkable water and landscape i would say worse infact were fucked.

Well, my original response was deleted, so time to replace it,

The world would be better if we all had one ________ instead of ____ amount of ________ doing _____ to each other.

    Happy mods?

Well, if you don't look at the fanatic and/or hypocritical environmentalists, health fanatics who thinks having everything sterile is good, while the only thing it does is ruin our immune defence making us more susceptible to diseases and such, terrorists, fanatic religious people who think their way is the true way (Not bashing, but still...), warmongering chiefs of nations and all the people who have a billion babies each, causing overpopulation.
If you look away from all of that, I'd still say we're pretty fucked up as a race.

Evolution does not have a point or purpose other then to spread your genes. It does not look for the best ones. The best way to spread them is to have as many offspring as you can. So other then this simple 'purpose', evolution is, essentially, purposeless.

now why i wrote that. i have no clue. ive had way to little sleep in the past couple days. I think the point im trying to make is that your arguement is faulty based on by saying that to many humans survived.

Now, good night gentleladies and men. im going to hit the pellow. the glorious glorious pellow.

pfft. Humans are human. We are and have always been greedy, backstabbing assholes just as we have always been loving and compassionate philanthropists.

World's gonna go to shit soon anyway. Does it really matter what we think of ourselves?

At least in the West, society's become a cesspool of moral relativism, consumerism, hedonism, corruption, social decay, lack of morals or respect for society, Western culture, religion, or anything that brought us to this point where we so smugly look back and spit on where we came from. We've embraced a gutter culture pandering to the lowest common denominator, and allow demagogues in government to tantalize us with promises they have no intention to keep.

    Let. It. Burn.

    Pretty bad. Technology ruined us.
