    [Music] Looking for a song.

Today while I was driving back home from college I was listening to a rock channel in the radio and a song was played. I remembered that I've seen some warcraftmovies video in which this song was also played, and I really like it. I couldn't understand well neither its name nor its group/singer. I'm from Spain and though I don't usually have problems understanding English lyrics, this one was harder than usual, maybe because I was stunned after more than 8h of lessons XD.

I'll try give some details about it, so you may know which song it is.

The song is just the singer's voice and a guitar played acoustic (not sure if there were drums, but I think not). The lyrics talk about a man (probably a soldier or similar) in a battle/war, and he remembers his family and home. And the chorus talks that all he has is its banner (probably the one of his country) and that he'll defend it bravely. The singer's voice reminds me to the one of Nickleback's singer.

I've tried to google it, but haven't found it, I got all the time a rap song about of some guy named David Banner XD.

Thanks in advance, and sorry for my probably badly written English XD.

By the way, to the OP: Your English is excellent. No need to apologize. I wish I could speak/write Spanish that well.

I can see why you had a little trouble understanding some of the words. His style can make it hard to accurately discern some of the lyrics on the first go 'round for even this English speaking American. So, hopefully seeing the words in print will help you:

He said "Son, have you seen the world?
Well, what would you say if I said that you could?
Just carry this gun and you'll even get paid."
I said "That sounds pretty good."

    Black leather boots
    Spit-shined so bright
They cut off my hair but it looked alright
    We marched and we sang
    We all became friends
As we learned how to fight

    A hero of war
    Yeah that's what I'll be
    And when I come home
They'll be damn proud of me
    I'll carry this flag
To the grave if I must
    Because it's a flag that I love
And a flag that I trust

    I kicked in the door
    I yelled my commands
    The children, they cried
    But I got my man
    We took him away
    A bag over his face
From his family and his friends

    They took off his clothes
    They pissed in his hands
    I told them to stop
    But then I joined in
    We beat him with guns
    And batons not just once
    But again and again

    A hero of war
    Yeah that's what I'll be
    And when I come home
They'll be damn proud of me
    I'll carry this flag
To the grave if I must
    Because it's a flag that I love
And a flag that I trust

She walked through bullets and haze
    I asked her to stop
    I begged her to stay
    But she pressed on
    So I lifted my gun
    And I fired away

The shells jumped through the smoke
    And into the sand
That the blood now had soaked
She collapsed with a flag in her hand
    A flag white as snow

    A hero of war
    Is that what they see
    Just medals and scars
    So damn proud of me
And I brought home that flag
    Now it gathers dust
    But it's a flag that I love
It's the only flag I trust

He said, "Son, have you seen the world?
Well what would you say, if I said that you could?"

Thank you very much . Although it may sound weird, I've mainly learned English by listening to English songs, reading a few books and playing videogames XD, I've bearly took English classes when I was a little boy. In fact, I've took French and Italian lesson at school and university and I don't speak them as well as English. The funny thing is that my mother, my sister and I are all French XD (but live in Spain).

Now that I've listened to the song and read its lyrics (thank you for posting them) I can see that maybe I couldn't understand much of it because of the singer's accent, I don't know how to explain it but its not as "clear" or "accurate" as other singers' are. In fact, some words were unspected after reading it, i.e.: "Yeah that's what I'll be", "We marched and we sang", "As we learned how to fight", are pronounced so fluid and soft (not sure if they are right words to define an accent) that I misunderstood them XD.

Anyways, it's a nice accent, it reminds me a bit of the accent we use in the south of Spain.
Oh, I forgot to say: what an awesome song, it has made me tremble :O

    Hi guys!
I'm looking for a song. Unfortunately I can only remember a few distunguishing features. The chorus part vas very high-pitched and the tempo was quick. The chorus sounds like "ke ke ke... [text i can't remember :P]". I guess it was from the 90's or the early 20's. I hope someone can help me. If this is not enough i could whistle it. Thanks in advance!
