Maybe I'm a sucker, but that Benn contract seems totally fine to me. I don't really get what the big hangup was. If you like Benn in his age 26 season for that price, there's no reason to not like him at 28. I guess longer is always higher risk, but he's about as low risk as you get.[COLOR="red"]

Mainly meant that if they sign him 3 years, he's 26 and then they can sign him long term then, thus keeping him for most of his prime. 27-33 are on average the best years for players.

I disagree fairly strongly, but I'd love to be absolutely dead wrong about it. I think his solid stats last year were the product of the team playing a more conservative style to cover him up rather than signs of genuine competence. Granted, everyone has nights like this, and I'm probably having an emotional overreaction, but this isn't a new feeling for me. I really don't think he's what my fellow Buffalonians think he is.

It's only his third year the NHL, and he has been inconsistent at worst. If he was bigger, he'd be a much better goalie. Still has potential though.

With Benn, I remember reading his agent wanted a 3-4 year contract for slightly more dollars, and the team wanted a 5-6 year contract for slightly less dollars. Looks like they reached a pretty fair balance to me.

Well according to the Preds boards, we played possibly the most uninspired game in the history of the team against St. Louis. Apparently the team showed more effort in the expansion years when they were already out of the playoffs.

There is also some serious concern Rinne is having some issues. Dude hasn't been able to stop anyone in 1 vs 1, breakway/shootout mode.
