50k at 81+, far as i know, it is also stated in the official FAQ when you go to paid char transfer page... might want to check it there (cant provide link because i dont know whether ur EU or US, and it is within account management i guess...)

You can stretch it a little via the Mysterious Fortune Cards - in as much as if you can find anyone with the really valuable (1000g/5000g) cards, and buy them off them, those don't count against your gold cap (since, obviously, they aren't gold).
