He is bankrupt and dying because he can't pay testers anymore, so he buys $7 worth of moon rocks and turns it into a powder that he injects himself with and slowly dies. His hatred for Black Mesa is from the fact that Black Mesa ruined his life.
    2. things,

    1. he bought 7 million dollars worth of moon rocks EVEN THOUGH he couldn't afford $7.
    2. He didn't inject himself with them, he got covered in them and didn't realise they were poisonous so asks you to see if jumping through portal made on moon rock goo would leech the poison out of his system :P

On point #2: He actually says he's GOING to go through portals to see if it'll work.

I'm sure he says something like "whilst your out there testing lets see if jumping through these new portals can leech the poison rocks from the human body" or something a long those times. I'm sure CJ never actually mentions anything about him taking part in any of the tests.

Gabe Newell mentioned that Chell would have some sort of significance with some characters we already know.

Besides the numerous references to the combine and black mesa...I noticed something rather curious.

    Spoilers:

After Wheatley takes over and GLaDOS is reduced to a potato, she is kidnapped by a Crow...4000 meters below the earth's surface. Anyone see anything wrong with this? The same crow shows up later (very far away from where it was first spotted), but then flies away once it sees Chell and GLaDOS.

Now, where do we see crows in Half-Life? With the G-man, of course. People have argued with me that they just reused the Crow model because they needed a bird, but why not recolor it? Further more, what would ANY bird be doing that far into the crust?
Amazing found, didn't think of that at all! But i think you're right, there is something about that bird!

I don't know if anyone mentioned it, I do know some people said they are rivals, but if you actually stop and look at some of the trophy cases they all say '#2'. We can deduce that Black Mesa was always first place because, or at least according to Cave Johnson, they stole his ideas.
