Hard drive read/write speed will never effect your download speed.

It's bothered me a lot that GW2's dodging, which is quite time-specific down to the second and absolutely necessary to avoid death sometimes, has to have the key hit twice. It seems quite clunky in my opinion and bothered me a lot, even before I played Tera. I never really liked double-tapping keys in general though. It always bothered me that GW1's auto-run had to be done through tapping forward twice instead of being able to just hit num lock.

Anyway, sorry for complaining, but does anyone know if this can be changed to tapping a single key instead of double tapping left or right or whatever? Thanks. <3
By default it's set to V, or double tap. Double tap can be disabled, and you can rebind V. The keybind will dodge in the direction you're currently moving. I had mine set to M4.

Also, you can autorun in GW1 by pressing R.

You can also press V and a direction.

It doesn't run on low priority unless you alt/tab out. When you're in the game it stays on normal.

Mif, do you know how to run GW2 in borderless windowed, so that I can alt-tab without minimizing the window? I was able to change Warcraft 3 to windowed (it only supports fullscreen) by changing the target to -windowed, would it be something similar?

It's in the drop down for screen resolution IIRC.

Edit: Misunderstood, I was thinking full screen windowed. I don't think GW2 can do borderless.

The SSD won't enhance loading speed of programs on the HDD.

Actually Mif, I just checked and that's what I wanted. I literally have no idea how I missed that the first time I looked.

What's the difference between borderless and fullscreen windowed?

    Sometimes nothing, sometimes something.
Wow for example, when you alt tab in full screen still minimises the window (IIRC).

Just tested it, and yes it does still minimize. Kind of useless then.

    perhaps this helps (from reddit):
    Hi Spl4sh3r,
We found your crash report and are working on a fix for the problem, but in the meantime you should be able to delete your Local.dat file and run the game after that.
You can find the Local.dat file in your Documents folder, in the Guild Wars 2 folder, e.g. C:\Users\[YOUR_USER_NAME]\Documents\Guild Wars 2\Local.dat.
After deleting that file, try restarting GW2 and it should patch up and let you see the login screen.
    Thanks!

Weird, what fixed it for me is flushing my dnscache and rebuilding it. Good to know another way.

I'll give you about 60 seconds to realize where you made your mistake.

If you have a GW2.tmp that isn't zero bytes, rename it to gw2.exe run it (rename your current gw2.exe to something else)
If that doesn't work, move your (original) GW2.exe and GW2.dat to a another folder and try running it.
You can also re-download GW2.exe, run it, then once it starts to download, close it and swap in your gw2.dat file.
