That's funny. I think a lot of the light armor in GW2 is great. Except for the diaper bottoms and the fatbutt dress. Overall, not bad. However, medium and especially heavy armor are thoroughly off putting to me in the game.

I really couldn't suffer playing a light armor profession just for the dresses either.

    I like the medium gear.

I have an outfit picked out however I am waiting for the elona expansion before assembling it. I want to make a kormir devout character but no proffesions are really kormir oriented so waiting to see if a new proffesion will appear.

All the same, going from GW2 and Raiderz back to that erm... stately combat style is a little weird.

You really do get used to double tap dodge. XD
i bind the dodge to middle click so much easier

    Agreed.
The majority of heavy armor is awful.
I like the HotW and splinted armor (except the helm in both cases) though.
Kind of wish they implement Warrior Ascalon armor from GW1, I like a lot more simplistic armor.

I made a female human necromancer (deleted my asura :O ) just because I love the way the cabalist armor looks on female humans (the armor the necromancer wears in character creator). Female human light armor just looks awesome.

However, i think Crystal Desert will be for Elona expansion, currently i think Isles of Janthir/Blood Legion Homelands are more fit. Maybe even Maguuma Wastes and Far Shiverpeaks, but those will be more dragon focused i think so yea, seems right for a massive November release.

Ele just went from having the worst downstate abilities in the game to arguably the best other than mesmer.

And, "Assassin’s Signet: This skill has been updated to grant 15% damage for 5 attacks rather than 50% damage for one attack."

    There is a god.

Just like that, Backstab Thieves (which weren't hard to deal with, from the getgo) are effectively brought back in line.

I am amused at the new Ele Downed state. It looks good.

There's a difference between "hard to deal with" and "even a lobotomized kitten could play this well". The kitten can still play it, but at least he won't do 14k crits.

Of course, it now promotes heartseeker spam. But it's still easier to avoid and far less burst.

And actually, using base damage as an indicator:

    Mug: 1400
    Cloak And Dagger: 1300
    Backstab: 2000 (100% 1.5 crit modifier, +~50-58% crit damage)
    Heartseeker: 1700 (x2)

    Pre-nerf total damage: 12340 (BS = 6240)
    Post-nerf total damage: 11799 (BS = 4784)

So it's about the same, just harder to do.

Oh, and there's also +3% from vuln, but I forgot about that and I really doubt it's actually important.

Lobotomized kitten or no, the fact of the matter is, you had to be standing perfectly still to be hit by a Backstab. In or out of combat, you'll still outpace the stealthed person, and to actually hit someone with that from behind to do real damage (instead of a sneeze), it wasn't really feasible against anyone that knew what they were doing (and if you somehow didn't see a Thief coming before they stealth, I would have to commit blasphemy by telling you to turn the porn off while you're PvPing at least). It's weird to say, but even just running forward keeps your back the least exposed, neutering Backstab's effectiveness.

It was a little too powerful under conditions in WvW that shouldn't/will never be balanced. But the only time a person of any skill should be dying to a Backstab crit is if they were already outmatched by something else like a Warrior stun (but the same could be said about Hundred Blades being used effectively by a Mesmer pistol stunning you first).

They didn't actually change Heartseeker again, did they?

If you're fighting a keyboard turner...

you'll still outpace the stealthed person
33% Stealth speed increase + passive 25% speed increase. You actually move faster in stealth, in combat, than out of a stealth.

Speaking of gear, my human male necro is using the Dry Bones/Shadow light armor set now. Probably one of the best looking armor sets in the game, if you ask me. Better than anything heavy or medium has to offer, at least. The cow skull helm (I'm going to call it a cow, don't tell me it's a goat or something!) is perfect for the cow god Bovinity Divinity, as well.

As for backstab...just running really isn't a hugely viable strategy when you're talking about defending/attacking a node or something. Not to mention if you're fighting someone else so aren't exactly on the lookout for a little black smoke puff.

Oh looks like they finally fixed that Timberline Falls bug. I don't remember when the game launched anymore- but it was broken for a long time.

So, I've made some changes in my gameplay that seem to have caused a bit of a turnaround in my opinion of the game.

Dropped my Warrior for a Necro, which is 100x more fun and interesting and doesn't put me to sleep or make me want to flip a table. (Sorry, but no matter how good you are at melee, it's still oftem more frustrating or more of a pain in the ass than it needs to be.) Death Shroud is a mechanic with a resource system that actually matters, and that's much more fun as well.

Switched servers to Jade Quarry to hang out with my old EQ guild a little, and we actually have decent WvW fights here. Probably part of the reason I hated WvW before was that it was never a fight, just a steamroll one way or the other. Have a lot of fun against zergs with my necro, even though there's a lot of AE condition removal flying around, blowing up an Epidemic bomb on an opposing raid is really great. There's so many fun things to do with Epidemic, and it doesn't even require line of sight.

My wife finished her storyline quest last night, and I will say that the entire battle was pretty epic in terms of being an interactive cut scene. I won't say that as an actual playable game it was very good, but it was still fun to "be there". Also: That laser - and the ship it was on - is OP. Not sure in what way the Elder Dragons are a believable threat in a world with weapons like that. Just seemed like a bit much, having a weapon that basically one-shots the supposed super powerful, awesome, world-threatening ancient superpowers. Just rebuild the laser and fly that ship over and cut Jormag in half while we're at it.

All in all though, whether it's just my mood or switching to a class that's much (much) more interesting, or just being on a server where the content I like doesn't totally suck...I feel like I've done a bit of a 180 on my opinion of the game for now.

I felt like that with my Mesmer. I just didn't enjoy it. The moment I switched to Engineer I started having a blast. I think it's really important to play the right profession for you.

do the XP boosts stack? for example if I eat one food crafted by a Cook will it stack with one crafted by a Weaponsmith? Both giving +10 xp I think.

I do not giving a flying fuck about anything added to Guild Wars except this now:

The single most significant addition to the game for me.

Recently I have been bugged about how outdated the transmutation stone mechanic is in this kind of game that relys a lot on looks and appearance. To be honest, it's a pretty 'huge' step back from the original Guild Wars who had costume tab, which takes me into that you should be able use your costumes appearance, but with your current stats.

There should be appearance slots at the side of your equipped gear slots.

I believe ArenaNet would earn more money if they sold costumes like that, and have appeareance slots, and costume maker NPCs, instead of having transmutation stones.
