    The software I linked earlier, or others like DriveImage, Acronis, etc, will allow to image the entire old drive onto the new drive.

    Process basically being to connect the new drive, boot the PC off a CD, image the drive across, disconnect the original drive, boot from new drive, go ooh wow at fast boot

    Like a previous poster stated, you can indeed use Norton or Acronis to clone the data over. The one thing you want to make sure of is that the software used will keep the partition alignment (Assuming he is using Windows 7 that is) If not, fresh install, because it's just easier to re-install if it doesn't. Hell, re-install anyway imho.

    Reinstall OS and copy the rest of your files across. As Ispano pointed out, you'd need to ensure that the software you're using to image the drive across correctly aligns the partition on the SSD to make full use of it, or you'll just lose performance.
