A rant about the world (Please actually read before posting)

Somebody really set me off about this today, so here I am to vent about the world as I've seen it. Here's your first warning, this may get really frickin' long, so leave if you aren't going to read the whole thing. If I offend you in any way, then I am not the least bit sorry. If you identify yourself with any of the groups I call out, then you deserve whatever I say about you. There will be no racism, no sexism, no country bashing, and no discrimination in my rant, just me telling a lot of stupid people that they are, in fact, stupid. Let it be known that I am a tad irritated while writing this, and I promise you that I will channel that into what I say. Also, I use excessive amounts of sarcasm, so you may have to think a little. Last warning, this is about to enter rage status.

The world is a terrible, dreadful place. We, the proud and strong Terran races, have made it livable through pure force of will. When we are vigilant, we bring peace to the wasteland and call it home. When we falter, however, the blackness returns, and the world descends into the chaos and destruction that it perceives as "normal" once more.

I'm going after self-loathing Americans first, since I hate you people the most. To clear up some confusion, this is not all Americans. Not by a long shot. I myself am a very proud American. This group has always existed, but it seems recently that you've all figured out how to perform some action vaguely resembling organizing, and I must say that I am not amused. Now I will say this; while you're kind has captivated the media for decades, you've yet to become a real threat. At the moment you are no more than an annoyance, simply for the fact that hardly any of you ever vote. I suppose your time is too valuable to participate in our nation, and I'm fine with that. You go on paying taxes and making hollow threats of anarchy and revolution while the grownups make the decisions. Should the lot of you figure out how representative democracy works, however, then god help us all. Although, I suspect obtaining such knowledge would be enough to make a good number of you realize how ridiculous you've been.

As someone who was once one of you, I now know what a stupid child I was. I bought right in to all the leftist propaganda, and all the pacifist bullshit. "Wouldn't it be wonderful if we had a world free of violence? If there were no rich, no poor? Why do governments have secrets, when lying is wrong?" How perfect a child's world is, where everything is black and white, and you never have to make sacrifices. Then I entered the real world. I grew up, like so many others do every day. Trouble is, these days not everyone does. Before it was just a scattering of crazies, ranting on the street about big brother and domestic tyrants (who have forever tainted the works of one of our era's greatest writers with their false interpretations). Now, however, they are more and more becoming the norm. Where once the media would look upon them with curiosity, they now worship the doomsday preachers as gods. You know who you are. "America is a decade from destruction" "I live in a terrorist state" "The government is the source of all evil". Ring a bell? A couple of you have said these things before. I applaud those of you who haven't, for you have retained the precious gift of sanity.

What's the thing most of you bitch about these days? Iraq, I believe. What a joke, Iraq. We went in under false pretenses of searching for WMD that didn't exist, to steal oil that we never actually got. How horrid. But wait, think about that for a moment. President Bush must have lied about the WMD's because we never found them, right? Well, yes and no. No, he did not lie about Iraq having WMDs. But who cares? Every single country on Earth has WMDs. Every last one. Of course Iraq did, we saw them years earlier. They used them without restraint against Kuwait and the Kurds. Perhaps you don't know what WMDs are. Are they nuclear weapons? Well yes, those count, but more common are chemical weapons, biological agents; this was by and far Saddam's favorite war practice. You show so much sympathy for this dead tyrant, yet you feel nothing for the tens of thousands left dead in the wake of destruction he brought before him. Why is that?
But no, I'm not here to say that Iraq was a humanitarian mission. No, humanitarian missions are hard to justify these days. For all of your kind's talk of peace and equality, I find it astounding, that you would rather allow the monsters of this world to run rampant than to see a drop of bloodshed. Because, if we don't get involved, it never makes the news. And if its not on TV, it's not your problem, right? Disgusting.
No, Iraq was about one thing: If we fight them there, we won't have to fight them here. This was a lesson we learned all too well from the cold war. When we invaded Al Qaeda's stronghold in Afghanistan, where did every terrorist on Earth flock to? Iraq. It was right next door, it was perfectly safe, and Saddam told them to make themselves at home. They were organizing. They were setting up shop, and getting ready to go right back to bombing the shit out of our cities. We had to fight them there. And it was a damn brilliant move. I personally wasn't George Bush's biggest fan. I am a man who believes firmly in science and education, and he set us back on both. He made some decisions that will effect our economy for years to come. But I will never say that he was wrong about Iraq. It was the most brilliant thing he ever did. He once said "There has not been a single terror attack on US soil since we invaded Iraq". Many compared this to a lion whistle. Of course there won't be any lions, if there were no lions to begin with. But look at the 1990's. There were multiple terror attacks every year. Dozens over a single decade. They were organized, and they hurt us in ways we never expected. Then the big one came. 9/11/01 was the worst attack in our nation's history, and we knew another was coming soon after. But then it stopped. George Bush declared his war on terror, and it stopped. Almost a decade without a single successful organized terror attack, and you question his statement? Tell me this, if you are in the middle of a lion's den, and the lions run away frightened, did your lion whistle not work? Logic says that it did.

And then there's our economy. We have two, going on three wars running it into the ground. That's what you honestly believe, isn't it? Do me a favor, go to wikipedia for a moment. Look up our history of wars. Do you not see, that for almost 150 years, we have either been conquering or occupying a foreign land. We are a nation who's history is one perpetual war. By your logic, I estimate that America collapsed into ruin in about... 1870. Wait, it's already 2011. I may have been a little off. No, war runs our economy. War makes us strong. War is the lifeblood of our nation. It's all this other stupid shit that's killing us. Do you know how much of our debt comes from social security? Not that debt is all that big an issue in reality, but you all sure play it up like its the apocalypse. Social security is running our treasury into the ground, and we cannot get rid of it to save ourselves. And who is it helping? Your generation won't even get the benefits of it, because it's not sustainable. Don't blame the car for what the passenger is doing to the driver. If we stop fighting, our economy will die. This nation will cease to exist. No, we need to oust socialism and preserve the free market economy that has made us strong. There are 3 things that should be socialized. Banking, Medicine, and Insurance. But only because those industries can and will fuck the entire country over. Other than that, total free market. And we need to keep the world in conflict. We don't have to fight, but somebody has to buy our guns.

And you know where this attitude is coming from? You've been too sheltered. Your life was too easy. I don't care how poor you are, or how much the world has screwed you over, your parents had it worse. That is true almost without exception. If your father was a rich bastard who threw you out on the corner to die, then I'm sorry. But I know my parents weren't. They were both born poor, but they worked their way up to where they are today. They accomplished the American dream. My father is a decorated veteran who gave everything he could for his country, so in return his country gave everything it could for him. I have never had to live the life he did, but unlike many of you I realize it. Our fathers and our grandfathers worked tirelessly to make this nation great, and you spit on their achievements. They grew up in a world where everyday could have brought a nuclear hellstorm with it, yet they triumphed. You can't understand what that's like. I won't pretend I understand it either. My life saw very little of the cold war. I was there for the victory, but not the hardships. But I know that what they did, what out fathers did, was heroic. And I will never again be so naive as to forsake them. They built this country, and they made our future bright. I can't make you agree with them, but for god's sake, show some respect. They sacrificed so much, so that you would never have to do the same.


Now we're over halfway through the rant, so feel free to take a short intermission to go to the bathroom or get a drink, cause this next one is going to cause some angry responses.

Young Europeans. Where to start with you? Some of you won't fit with what I'm about to describe. Those of you will probably agree with me the most. Look around at your peers, and you shall see what I speak of.
Your continent has been the site of valor and heroism such as can only be described as legendary. God dealt your nations a poor lot in life, but your resilience and will to survive overcame all of that. Your ancestors are some of the greatest men to ever live. So many lives given for freedom, for liberty, for home and for country. You of the Britains, who's fathers fought down to the last man to stop the German horde. You Germans, who endured the horrors of the Russian occupation. You Frenchmen, who time and time again have fought tooth and nail for freedom. You Finns, who stood vigilante and even defeated the Soviet invaders. So many millions of your forefathers sacrificed everything to keep you safe. You treat this like ancient history, yet much of this was not even 30 years ago.
Like it or not, our fathers helped your fathers to save their land. They treated Americans as their brothers, and welcomed us into their lands. And make no mistake, we went wherever we were called, and did everything we could. We were blessed with isolation from the slaughter, but we knew that you were not. So we came, and we did what you asked of us. They earned our help. We would not let those brave, glorious men fail. Yes, some nations fell to the red menace, but we are only one nation and could only do so much. We saved everyone that we could. Yet so many of you condemn what both America and your fathers bled to achieve. They let us come for a reason. They never once thought that we were giving them a free ride. They knew that we would use them in our war. But they welcomed us anyway. You may not understand the threat the Soviets posed, but your fathers did. They fought back, not for themselves, but for you. They were afraid that you would have to grow up in a communist world, filled with hunger, poverty, and death. Now you hate them for it. You hate them for collaborating with the evil empire called America. You wish us to leave your lands, so that everything your fathers fought for will have been in vain. Do you think that Russia has changed since the Soviet Union collapsed? Its the same people with a different name. Putin is hungry for power. He doesn't hide it either. He wants an empire, and he'll fight for it. He leaves you alone because we keep him in check. Your fathers had the wisdom to know that if they asked for our help, you would never have to die to protect your home like so many of them did. We, for whatever reason, have had so much fortune in this country. And because we have never had to bare the hardships your people have, we gladly offered our protection, at no cost other than a few acres of land here and there.
But you think that the world is different now. You think that all of the great evils have been purged, and that the threat of war is in the distant past. But suppose America abandons you. Suppose we only defend our own interests. How long until the enemy is at the gates? You no doubt saw the invasion of Georgia recently. That could be your home. It doesn't have to be the Russians, either. There are many in this world who seek power. Do you think those invaders will be kinder than the US? We do nothing but stand silently at your watchtowers, waiting for the next threat to appear. How can you despise us for that, yet be fine with whatever fresh nightmares your old enemies would bring?
There was a time, not 20 years ago, when American soldiers would arrive in a foreign land, get off the plane, and be greeted as heroes. They fought day after day so that you never had to. Now, the new generation spits in their faces and demands they go home. You mock us for our massive army, when you spend next to nothing on your own defense. We provide you with a free military. We are ready at any moment to defend every last one of your nations, so that you don't have to spend 60% of your country's money on doing exactly that. But most of you aren't grateful for that. We're like the fucking ghostbusters. You call us when you're in trouble, but you're embarrassed to be seen with us on a good day. But hey, at least I have a little respect for those of you who decided you hate America on your own. Most of you kids just do it because everyone else is doing it. It makes you "cool" and "enlightened", doesn't it? You think you're better than us because your country doesn't have wars. Well guess what? You do have wars, we're just fighting them for you.

Alright, I'm done. For those of you who made it this far, I admire you. Regardless of your opinion on this matter, the fact that you sat through that whole thing is admirable. And if you're a mod about to lock this, I only ask that you put one of those humorous locking messages in red text under this. I've never gotten one of those before.

I havent traveled to other countries and experienced the cultures, so all i can comment on is the american commentary. He/She is spot on.

The leftist media "worldwide" have over represented the actual numbers of liberals in the world. Especially america. Liberals in america are only 20% of the population yet they receive the majority of the favorable media from the 4 -1 liberal media. Which is why they all attack Fox.

Wow, pretty nice rant you got there, and lots of truth in it as well. I personally only dislike the stance many Americans take on their wars. Claiming they did all the work in WWII when there wouldn't have been a Europe left to save if the Brits, Finns, French and others hadn't been so adamant about protecting their lands.

I know. It's ridiculous. America pushed the Axis over the edge, but it cannot be denied that the bulk of the fighting and dying was done by Europeans. Just like the Allies would have lost without America, America would have lost without the Allies.
What gets me, though, is that the Axis powers get such shitty representation in that history. Sure, their leaders were bad, but I guarantee that every German, Jap, and Italian was a brave young man fighting for his country simply because he believed it was the right thing to do. I would not at all be opposed to a monument in America to all of the Germans we killed. They really were a fantastic enemy, and they deserve to be remembered as fearless warriors.
