    [Bio] Ryan Tate

    Name: Ryan Tate
    Nickname: The Librarian
    Age: 44
    Race: Human
    Gender: Male

Appearance: Ryan is 6' tall but often hard to tell as he is almost always wearing a full length cloak. He likes to keep his black hair in a short tight pony tail. Giving him ample hair style choices. He has one visible scar on his face that runs lenght wise across his forehead. Apart from his head, his hands are the only other body part often seen and he wears two leather gloves, one black and one white. If you look closely enough you would find a single red thread on the white glove, of course to the layman this would mean nothing. The last bit of clothing is a bit unusual, mainly because it's not. Ryan is never seen without a book since a very early age.

Personality: Ryan is a guarded person. Not out of fear but out of necessity. Whether he was a thief, an assassin or eventually as a SI:7 agent. Many of his characteristics change based on who he is working with. He doesn't make choices lightly and he often explores every outcome. He is, needless to say, a very calculating and preceptive person. While he is quite intelligent he tries not to over do it, but fails more often than not. Ryan works hard to say the right thing at the right time though. His job has literally become his life. However one constant is that he enjoys a good time. Drinking and games, even in tense situations.

Languages: Ryan knows both the spoken and written forms of Common, Darnassian, Dwarven, Gnomish, Draenei, Orish, Zandali, Thalassian, and Goblin fluently. Much of these come from his personal training and a few from his later work as a Third Finger.

Class: Ryan is the very heart of a rogue. Daggers and poisons sure but his true skills lie in stealth and intelligence. Foraging documents, breaking codes, gathering information, conning, and sneaking into enemy strongholds and private estates alike to name a few.

Likes/Dislikes: Ryan loves reading and history. Even before his work as a 3rd finger, Ryan enjoyed learning everything he could about his enemies or adversaries. He is a full blown bibliophilia, with his favorite being A History of Azeroth. Most of the money he makes goes into purchasing books and he has a hard time passing on any job that might allow him to obtain rare books. He keeps most of the rarer ones but likes to give the rest away to others who might benefit from them. He especially picks up every copy of Nat Pagle's Guide to Extreme Anglin' and really any other's that give information on professions for making money or getting food. The only thing that visably annoys Ryan is ignorance. He doesn't believe being born into poverty to be an excuse for staying in it. Besides that he has a large distrust for any magic user. Not a real hatred but as he knows, and as history has proven time and time again, they lead to more trouble than help. He isn't above working with them but watches them closely.

Strengths/Weaknesses: Not the best fighter nor the best at poisons but his true genuis lies in information gathering and stealth. He is able to coax almost anything out of all but the strongest minds. Not to mention he has a knack for breaking and entering without leaveing a trace. He constantly trains to keep up to date on these. However like most skilled men he falls to a few weakness the most prominent being his over confidence. He constantly over estimates his skills with fighting and this has lead him to more than a couple failed missions and the main reason he wears a full length cloak to cover his many scars, but he would never admit it.

    History:

Ryan was born in Lordaeron to David and Martha Tate. Not the best off family and not the worst but still considered a poorer class by the majority. Ryan grew up at first as a relatively normal child but learned to read and write at the age of 4. He developed a thirst for knowledge that his mother encouraged by bringing him books every day. Once he turned 5 however started to notice that his parents rarely worked but would go absent at irregular times of the day and night. He began to pester them about it, but Martha was able to distract him with an increasing amount of rarer books. David and Martha were thieves. Not overly talented but enough to make a living. David wanted to encourage their son to find a respectable career but Martha saw something better in her son than some job as a librarian or historian. She started slipping him books written about thieves or by them and showing him neat hand tricks. After a year or so he picked up a few very simple tricks and began using them to get toys or treats from other children or adults.

After Martha saw what he had been doing she convinced her husband to help her train Ryan and tell him what they really did. Ryan took to it quickly and began to attempt some theivery himself and while this never got him into real trouble it did teach him to learn from his mistakes early on. Martha taught him discretion and David combat, but only when the situation called for it. As a child he used games and pranks to cover up his real objectives and started earning his own gold. Through his teens he started making somewhat of a name for himself as the Librarian. The war going on outside didn't concern him much, but afterwards it just made for more opportunity to extend his skills. It was only once the Alliance started to break and Gilneas closed it's wall that he took much interest in the state of Azeroth. After a bit of introspection he joined the Lordaeron Army. His particular skills didn't see much use during the next few years other than keeping his fellow soldiers entertained. He gained little recognition for his skills subterfuge, coning superiors of gold and the like, but more often not he was just another average soldier.

Around his mid twenties his platoon was sent to Stormwind for a short leave. During his stay he took again to his old ways. Not much stealing to be done in the army and let alone from his friends there. Stormwing, even to this day, boosts one of the best libraries within the Alliance. However given the recent turmoil it isn't open to the public. A few days of recon later and Ryan was enjoying his nights perusing many of the older, rarer tomes. Oh the forth night was not a turning point but it opened a path in his life, one he never knew existed. A white card dropped from The White Stag and the Moon (A meeting technique that would he would come to replicate for his own uses over the years). Thinking it was just a bookmark from a previous scholar he bent over to pick it up and place it back in it's proper spot. When suddenly a dagger flew and struck the card out of his hand, pinning it to the shelve just beside him. A woman, much younger than himself, even at 28, sat atop a bookcase twirling a second dagger in her hand. Ryan ducked and reached inside a bottom shelf reaching for a weapon he left there, just in case an escape got to serious.

"I've already moved your short sword. Not very clever but your more of a thief than an assassin."
"And you aren't. So the penalty for reading is death?"
"Actually yes." Hoping down she moved forward. Ryan grabbed another book and held them as makeshift weapons. "But we have other plans for you." Sheathing her dagger, she grabbed the one she threw. Grabbing the card and holding it out to him, "Take it. Be there. And keep in mind we don't offer this to everyone. So keep quiet and show up little thief." After a few steps she vanished without a trace.

Ryan didn't know what to think. Flipping the card over reveled an open hand on it's back side and underneath it read "Blue Recluse, top floor third table back. Dusk." The Stormwind Assassins wanted him. He heard stories and gossip about the organization even back in Lordaeron, but never really considered it. However after his ordinary service within the Alliance army, he felt this was his chance to do something more and do it his way. The same young women met him there, Samantha. They talked for hours about his skills, his life, his parents and his goals. Even with his silver tongue she deflected quite well and he couldn't get much out of her. A few days past since their conversation but a mere day before his platoon was to ship back out he was discharged from the army. In his papers was a second card, like the first only with a closed fist and another location.

Training, training and working as a supplier for the higher ups were the next few years of his life. While Ryan is many things fighting with the skill of a First Finger was not one of them. Thievery was the start of his skills but not what he found to be his passion. Information (especially secret information), knowledge, languages, numbers, puzzles, and anything to do with the mind. After a short while as a Fourth Finger he made a name for himself and was promoted to a Third finger. Espionage, secrets and lies, became his life.

The Librarian was once again in business. He started working in

[Redacted by Mathis Shaw, Leader of SI:7, under the Command of King Varian Wyrnn]

and that was how the stable master met his end.

In the past few years, with the creation of SI:7, Ryan started working further and further away from typical Alliance cities. With his skills for uncovering enemy plans, infiltrating their holds and cities he became a high ranking agent in no time. However the further in, the further steps he took to keep his identity secret. A lot of them were in vain though but with his name being out there contacts became much easier to maintain and influence politics. In fact of his many covers and "professions" politicians and emissaries were among his favorites. Through the war with the Scourge, through the few months of peace and during the shattering he worked as an emissary for a few different organizations ( [ Redacted ] just to name a few) on keeping the tenuous treaty between the Horde and Alliance alive. With the defeat of Deathwing and the ever looming war between Alliance and Horde starting to ramp up, Ryan has returned to normal SI:7 missions.

I have updated Ryan here significantly. Mainly in that I have detached him from Richard and the Blitz Mercenaries. I am also in the process of rewriting Richard but I like Ryan more so there you have it.

Also just a note the redacted part is something I would think would of been done for all of the Stormwind Assassins that were rolled into SI:7. Just thought it would be a nice touch as many of their missions are never public knowledge but suffice to say they involve; code breaking, breaking and entering, turning assets, infiltrating deep into enemy territory, some blackmailing, a bit of theft and much much reading, writing and remembering.
