I won't restate Tech N9ne or Hopsin because... ya'know... white people on the internet.

Ab-Soul and ScHoolboy Q - Just mindblowing rappers... Kendrick and Jay Rock are both good and I recognize that but not a massive fan.
Pharaoh Monche - I mean those rhyme schemes? So complex.
The Roots - Black Thought what an MC the only rapper who can regularly pull off sextuple entendres.
Murs - Very talented and hard-working.
Nottz - Not only an incredible, yet underrated rapper, but a great producer.
Jon Connor - Not many can rap over Jay-Z or Eminem beats and outshine the originals.
Elzhi - Same as above, I mean who can outshine Nas on some Illmatic songs - especially on Memory Lane.
Money Making Jam Boys - Guess this is part of my passion for Black Thought but MMJB is awesome because you get 5 semi-conscious rappers (STS, Truck North, Dice Raw, Greg PORN and Black Thought) getting to just rap about whatever they want.

Wow, why haven't I seen this topic before? Some great music in here, and quite a lot I haven't heard before! Gonna have to dedicate a night and listen through it all

Here's an amazing group I found by a fluke a little while back. The album is pure gold.

I'm not sure you could consider him "new" anymore, but Tone Deff. Easily.

If not, than Jon Connor or Elzhi. (Or maybe Mac Miller as a guilty pleasure )

Haha, Ghostpoet is indeed not rap, and Wiz is very rap... and nothing close to Hip Hop.

Basically, even though this is a pretty elementary explanation, I tell my friends who don't know the difference; If the song is talking about something, telling a story, explaining something or trying to relate to something, there's a good chance it's hip hop. If it's just bragging, getting drunk and letting you know, womanizing and talking about possessions, it's probably rap.

Wiz is rap. Doesn't mean it's not fun to rock in the car sometimes (That baseline in "On my level" is nuts lol)

Hip hop's just a style of music. Rapping is what the MC does, they're completely separate things, but most hip hop features a rapper. What Wiz Khalifa puts out is hip hop. It's not particularly good hip hop, but it's still hip hop. Maybe hip pop would be a better description.

Ghostpoet is an 'urban poet'. His music's pretty much alternative.

"Skelethon" is great, I recommend it to everyone who likes alternative hiphop, or just wants to check out something original and fresh
