    [Anime] Anime suggestions :)

Hello, I really got into anime last year and have watched some great animes since then. I'm enjoying it alot and was wondering if you people on this forum had any good suggestions for animes i should watch.

Madoka, won't regret it, be sure to watch up to episode 3 before judging. ;P

QB (Sig) = best non intentional villain-esque character, ever/ troll.

Also, Clannad/ Clannad After Story are good, too, if you don't mind slice of life and crying your eyes out.

Try Cowboy Bebop too, haven't heard anyone disliking that anime yet.

Go watch Madoka if you want to see a genre turned upside-down on it's head, in a good way.

I also recommend Remilia's recommendation of the Kara no Kyoukai movie set, it's really good.

And a personal few that I found that stand out:
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagan - lots of fighting and mecha, not far out of your element from what you've seen, but it's also unique inside it's genre
Eden of The East: Very plot driven, not as much action as others, but very enjoyable, although the movie completion left a lot to be desired.

There's way too much to recommend, and I recommend looking to the topic Sy's Anime List for a very large (I mean large) discussion on what shows are like what.

Gonna agree with Rem and suggest Higurashi as well, if you're into psychological horror stories.

Gotta say MMOchampers have great taste in anime and this is a great community to ask about it.

    1. One Piece
    2. One Piece
    3. One Piece
    4. One Piece
and last but not least 5. One Piece

Seriously though, if you enjoy stuff like Naruto and Bleach, One Piece would be right up your alley. Alot of the other series listed by others are great series, but fall more into the moe/slice of life variety or the more cerebral/mess with your mind type of show (Death Note would fall into the later category) The slice of life stuff might rely a little heavy of the Japanese culture knowledge for someone just getting into anime and the heady stuff might be a little heavy.

Be warned, One piece is a really long running series, just under 500 episodes last I checked. I find it to be really enjoyable. A great mix of action and comedy. It is sort of like Naruto with Pirates in place of Ninjas. It does start out a little slow, and some people are turned off by the unique animation style, but stick with it for at least the first 20 or so episodes unless you are really not enjoying it. It gets much, much better as time goes on and all the main cast joins. One of my all time favorites and one I still look forward to each week.

You already named my favorite anime (FMA: Brotherhood). Since you didn't really narrow down exactly what types of anime you enjoy I'll try to give a decent description of each series.

-Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex: The world has changed and there is no longer a clear line between humans and machines. Androids, full-body cyborgs, and partial cyborgs are all common. In turn this has raised the specter of brain-hacking, cyber-terrorism, anti-cybernetics groups (who see humanity being lost), and so forth. The series centers around Public Peace Section #9, an ad-hoc group of specialists in cyber-terrorism. It has some action, but is primarily a detective show; if you liked the thinking in Death Note you'll probably enjoy Ghost in the Shell.

-Berserk: a medieval action/adventure focusing on Guts, a swordsman who has been fighting for as long as he can remember. He is recruited by the Band of the Hawk, led by the charismatic Griffith who has ambitions of rising in the world. It's pretty heavy on the violence and blood, but also has some good political intrigue. If you liked Claymore, Berserk would probably also suit your tastes.

-Cowboy Bebop: considered something of a classic of anime, it focuses on Spike Spiegel and the ragtag team of bounty hunters he teams up with. Amazing sound track if you have any taste for jazz and the like. If you liked Samurai Champloo, this series has some of the same essence of people thrown together by chance and wandering about looking for work, although it's significantly darker than Samurai Champloo.

-Black Lagoon: a close kin in spirit to Cowboy Bebop, except rather than being in space it's a group of pirates in the South China sea. This series however is far darker and more vulgar than either of the aforementioned "group wandering" series. It also has a sense of humor about it that I thought was subtly brilliant, but again dark.

-Code Geass: one of the most popular anime series at this time, it's a combination of action, political maneuvering, mecha, and a sprinkling of high school drama. Lelouch vi Britannia is a prince in hiding after his mother was assassinated. In a chance encounter with the mysterious girl C.C. he gains the power of the Geass Eye, a power that allows him to bend the will of others to his own. With this power he vows to take revenge on the Britannian Empire for what it has done. A lot of people describe the series as "Gundam meets Death Note," which is a fair enough assessment.

-Mushishi: hard to classify, it's about a man named Ginko going around studying phantasmal creatures called "mushi". They aren't like demons, but more macroscopic bacteria that most people can't see. I found it an oddly calming and enjoyable anime, never seen anything like it.

Edit: as Skizzit said above if you liked Naruto and Bleach there's a good chance you'll like One Piece. I'm not personally a fan, hence failing to mention it.
