Why cant DKs block?

So i was just questing on my ret pally and i blocked...with the exact same weapon as my DK has. I looked and i have my base 5% block, so why is it that DKs the HERO class is apperently to stupid to block with a 2h when a ret pally (and non prot warr?) can do it just fine? Just a thought

Maybe you mistook the combat text from the mob who blocked? They can block w/o weapons.

If you "block" with a weapon, it's called "parry," which DKs do have.

I have no idea about your ret paladin. Best I can figure is that you triggered a specific ability that uses the word "block" or else you misread the combat log. You can't block without a shield on.

It's really ironic when you call something stupid and make so many spelling errors in the same sentence.

OT: Because they have the option to block when they put on a shield. If you have no shield on, even though your % block is > 0, you are unable to block as a pally or warrior.

Dragons, worms, and a whole lot of other things don't wear shields.

I think the OP saw the combat text from a mob blocking his hit, since mobs don't need weapons to block hits.

Players can't block w/o a shield.

Mobs can also dodge from behind, because apparently they all have jedi-like reflexes. I'm also pretty sure that Jin'do's chains can dodge, which is somewhat bizarre.

My baseball cap blocked my /facepalm...or maybe it parried it?
I can only hope you didn't see something in the combat log like ppl have suggested and have gemmed/reforged for block now.
But don't worry about not having block OP, that's the mechanics of your class.
