WOW has lost 2 Million subs since dec 2010

In Dec. 2010 subscriptions for WOW were estimated to be as high as 5,6 million in
US / Europe combined. But now today, according to < www.warcraftrealms.com >,
subscriptions have dropped to 3,6 million.

    Data:
    - Dec 2010...: 5,6 million
    - May 2011...: 3,6 Million
    ----------------------------
    = 2 million lost subscriptions

That is a 36% drop in subscriptions for the US and EU combined in the last 6 months.
So the questions stands, is WOW actually dying now? Is Cataclysm the actual WOW
killer that so many have actually predicted... Hmmmmm

...and do take into account that a WOW motion picture is being produced before your
    answer this post.

Naw, 36% is just a drop in the bucket, these MMO's go up and down all the time. Its summertime, subs always drop in the summer. Blizz can lose 36% of their subs and not even blink. It was probably the botters that got banned. People needed a break, they'll be back.

Your numbers are wrong, that site is as incorrect as possible.
According to that site, my realm has 0 Horde players..

    WE NEED YOUR HELP!

There are too few Alliance and Horde entries for this realm to give reliable results! Please help today by submitting data for this realm! Find out more about how to help here!

Oh hell, look what I found when I checked one of the realms I actually play on. http://www.warcraftrealms.com/census...servertypeid=1

No updates for over a week and they think there's only 231 Horde players at max level on the whole server? Good to know that my scrub guild makes up a quarter of the server's raiding population!

Rudimentary creatures of blood and flesh. You touch my mind, fumbling in ignorance, incapable of understanding.
You exist because we allow it, and you will end because we demand it.

using a well known to be out of date and inaccurate website as your source isn't the best idea.

And how many has WoW gained? You can't make an argument without including the counter-argument to it, which in this case will refute any argument you can make.

Also, lolwarcraftrealms. That is the epitome of an intensely inaccurate website.

false, as***** had nothing else to do eh?

How come those "WoW is coming to an end!"-cryers remind me so much of all those "the world is going to end on XX.YY.ZZ!"?

But he thinks it proves his point, which is all he really cares about.

I was in Orgrimmar in the Valley of Honor and only saw like 20 other people.

That means WOW HAS LOST 12 MILLION SUBSCRIBERS OMG THERES ONLY 20 LEFT.
I shall die here. Every inch of me shall perish. Every inch, but one. An inch. It is small and it is fragile and it is the only thing in the world worth having. We must never lose it or give it away. We must never let them take it from us.

Yo dawg, I heard that WarcraftRealms was an official Blizzard website that takes into account all variables (e.g. people who haven't logged on or characters who have transferred off the realm) and does not rely on users generating their censuses when they make their subscription estimates. Oh wait...

Between the game being 7 years old, and the global economy's decline making multi-boxing less affordable, it's no surprise the game is losing subscriptions.

People just need to play the game or don't.
The Dark Truth Behind Pandaria is a Bright Future
IT IS POSSIBLE TO PLAY AND ENJOY MORE THAN ONE MMO AT A TIME.
You didn't pay for beta access. You agreed to pay a monthly sub to retail servers for a year.

Nah, 82% drop in subs is only natural and happens to MMOs all the time. Subs always drop at xmas. Blizz can lose 82% of their subs and not even blink. It's probably the illegal mexicans who are sent back accross the border. They'll be back though and re-sub.

On topic. 36% is huge if it's true and means it's dying. Unfortunately that's not enough evidence to say for sure.
