You still get 20% discount from any faction vendor without farming exalted with them. Still a very powerful racial.
It was never supposed to be must-make-a-goblin-alt to save hundreds of thousands of gold by crafting Vials of Sands and Bikes.

It was just an oversight. The same as cut green gems vendoring for 9g each.
