Obscure is a raiding guild on the EU-Sha'tar server. Established the day of Wrath launch by a core of veteran players, Obscure quickly became one of the top raiding guilds on the server, earning server 3rd on Sarth3D. Since then we have consistently been in the top 10% of guilds world-wide, all while raiding only 3 nights a week and maintaining strong social bonds.

Obscure raids Mon/Wed/Sun 19:45-23:00. Most of this time is spent on progression bosses. Raiding trialists are expected to attend the vast majority of these.

Raiding trialists are expected to come to raids fully prepared: that means having watched the Tankspot video for the encounters, read the strategy threads on these forums, and knowing your class inside and out. Raiding only 9 hours a week means we just don't have time to brute-force an encounter.

What you can expect from us:

A mature guild environment. And no, "mature" does not mean x-rated. Mature means that two grown women might be talking about their pregnancy experiences in guild chat. Mature means polite and drama-free. It doesn't mean we never swear, it does mean things like homophobic or racist comments are beyond our range of experience.

From a raiding perspective, "mature" means a stable raiding schedule. It means we don't massively over-recruit, but it also means that if you're having a bad night and standing in fire that you generally ask to be replaced before the raid leader does it. "Mature" means that while I sometimes use "serious voice" you're not going to be screamed at for making a mistake, although you are expected to own it.

What we look for in applications:

- Does your gemming, enchanting, speccing, and glyphing indicate that you've researched how to best perform your role in a heroic raiding environment?

- Do you have the best gear available to you and is it all gemmed and enchanted to the max?

- Have you put some effort into the application?

- Finally, we do look at your current gear level and raid experience. This however is the least important criteria.

What we look for during trials:

- high situational awareness

- high raid preparation

- extremely good raid discipline

- a casting rotation/style that indicates you know how to play your class

- a mature, intelligent person who's a good social fit; it's ok if you're shy, it's not ok if you're causing drama

- we also look at hps/dps, but only in the context of "are you getting what you can out of your current gear level?" and "are we able to make the enrage timer?"

Finally, please note that the Sha'tar is a RP-PVE realm. While we are in no way an RP guild, you are expected to abide by the realm rules, which amount to "no immersion-breaking chat in /say or /yell."
