I went to Riften and was overwhelmed by the cities. The crime was just getting to me. I couldn't take it. So left it for laters. Reached Markarth through a drunken accident! And started questing it. Beautiful city I must admit. Haven't seen a city build around a waterfall before in a video game before (if I have I'm forgetting it).

First I was stunned by the innkeeper's daughter. Thought about marrying her then realized I'm playing a female dragonborn. Then I got into all this conspiracy theory and kept getting other quests as well. Was enjoying the whole thing.

    ***SPOILERS***

The conspiracy thing started to get out of hand. Nepos died first in his house. And I ended up killing 8 guards. However another guard caught me and I gave in. Went to jail. Helped the guy I was actually after, Madanach, escape prison. Then helped him escape the city while killing all the guards on my way. Then killed Madanach's men as the Jarl asked.

Went to the Temple Of Dibella. Killed everyone there... Stole everything. Went to this guy's house to find evidence of him worshiping Talos, killed him and a guard, stole everything. Did the bidding of a Daedra while killing people who I should have been helping really (loved this quest, one of my favs).

Playing a double agent throughout the whole scenario. Killing people like mad. Killing guards. By the time I was done there was one guard left in the city.

And I thought Riften was bad.

    FUCKING LOVE THIS GAME.

I have been to 6 cities now. Whiterun, Windhelm, Markarth, Solitude, Winterhold and Riften.

*Whiterun is the most simple city in the game so far. Very straight forward quests and "honorable". Fun overall.

*Windhelm have been the most boring. I hardly see people in it and quests. Hate the design as well.

*Winterhold, why does this city exist again? Beautiful though. I did get an awesome Black Star from it. So something came good out of it.

*When I visit Solitude I just keep feeling bad for Elisif. Overall a very beautiful city. And quests are like Whiterun. Love the Civil War quests.

*Riften, love it. Haven't really started it, but I'm sure I will enjoy it as I really enjoy stealing stuff.

*Markarth. This city just blew me away. Wonderful. Best so far. The quests, the design, and the Jarl's room has a waterfall. Would do anything to have that in my room.

Now I must leave to complain to a guard, someone stole my sweet roll.

I'm starting to think these arrow to the knee jokes getting so popular is some cryptic message to me.

I had a bad knee for a year and a half. Had trouble getting health insurance, getting into see a doctor, etc. Got an MRI, had a meniscus tear. I got knee surgery 3 days before Skyrim came out (Nov 8). I sat around for two weeks playing Skyrim crippled. Believe I posted that earlier in the thread, before Skyrim's release date, as well..x,X

Weird how some things happen I guess.

I never really thought it was that funny... although it's amusing seeing it on youtube videos that have nothing to do with video games at all.

I prefer Windhelm, I love the cold IRL and since it's the coldest place in Skyrim...
Also in other towns I felt "poor" the houses are made of wood aside from Solitude (which just is an anoyingly long run to shops) which didn't feel right since I'm a well known adventurer with expensive armor etc.
    SPOILERS

I have done all major questlines (found the masks, daedra, thieves, mages, assasins and warriors guild + the main storyline). And I must say that the most entertaining ones by far were the Daedra quests as usual. In particular the ones where shit turns out totaly different from what you expect, the drinking game, the haunted house, nightmares and ofcourse boethiah were hella fun.

But the balance feels very wrong in quests, the mages guild takes as long to complete in total as some/most daedra quests.

The biggest let down to me was actually the mages/warriors guild the mages guild lacked puzzles [+ they all seemed quite easy aswell (get the beams in the center of the rings => hit buttons till glass alignes) heck there are treasure maps that are harder to figure out] and length and the warriors guild just wasn't a challenge.

I remember in morrowind there was an escort quest every so often for the warriors guild which seemed pretty hard to do with bandits coming from everywhere and critters constantly being a pain. It seems that escort quests now just turned into follow the "follower" who won't die and could actually manage on his own.

What are you guys hoping people will do with the TES construction set?

Currently having nothing to do, so I decided to finish my crafting skills and leveled Alchemy 100. Did Smithing and Enchanting 100 before. Obviously you could snowball yourself even higher by popping a Fortify Enchanting potion, enchant new gear with Fortify Alchemy and repeat it, but this was the result of just one cycle. Unfortunately, farming Spriggan Sap is extremely tedious and each potions lasts just enough to finish 2 enchants, 3 at max. I have read about super-powered enchants with damage in the area of 3 digits, but havent figured out how to reach it without excessive snow-balling, which has lost its charme to me now for obvious reasons^^

    For those interested:
    1. Level Smithing, Enchanting and Alchemy to 100. Take perks which increase the effects of improving, enchanting and brewing. Save up Spriggan Sap!
    2. Brew Fortify Enchanting potions. 3 were enough for me after some trying.
    3. Get some unenchanted gear from a vendor and put Fortify Alchemy on it while under the effect of the Fortify Enchanting potion, which lasts only 30 seconds. Keep an eye on the tooltip to see if the value changes, because it would mean the potion has expired. You will need 12 grand / black soul gems to enchant everything. 5 for your crafting gear, 7 for your regular gear (Alternatively take Ring, Necklace, Armor, Helmet and Gloves and enchant Fortify Alchemy and / or Fortify Smithing on it to save space. Use light armor to maximize the space efficiency)
    4. Repeat 1-3 or finish your gear
    5. Brew Fortify Smithing potions while wearing your crafting gear. 1 potion will last definitely last for 1 visit at the grindstone or the workbench. Mine buffed improving for 127% in the first run.
    6. Forge your desired gear.
    7. Improve your gear while under the effect of a Fortify Smithing potion and wearing your crafting gear. It also lasts only 30 seconds. Again, watch out for the tooltip to change to the lower value.
    8. Brew Fortify Enchanting potions while wearing your crafting gear. You will need 1 for every 2 items.
    9. Enchant your gear while under the effect of a Fortify Enchanting potion. I like weapon damage, health, stamina regen and lockpicking as a dual-wield warrior-type character.
Enjoy your father-of-god-mode and melt faces.

Net material cost for one full run (potion materials are examples): 9 spriggan saps, 7 snowberries, 2 glowing mushrooms, 21 ebony ingots, 6 daedric hearts, 13 leather strips, 12 grand / black souls

True, but the difference is that in GTA3 you're only shooting (and robbing, murdering, having sex with, etc) pixels. In WOW you get the pleasure of dealing with some of the most despicable human behaviour you'll ever witness.

I actually found a much more simple method for infinite power. (I play on the xbox) What you need is:

    1. Optional 5 pieces of +alchemy gear and high level alchemy level. The gear gear/level you have the less potion materials you will need.
    2. Alot of Fortify Restoration ingredients either (Abecean Longfin, Cyrodilic Spadetail, Salt Pile, Small Antlers, Small Pearl)

Now that you have those equip your gear and make a fortify restoration potion using 2 of the ingredients.

    3. Unequip all of your alchemy gear
    4. Drink the potion
    5. Re-equip all of your alchemy gear (For some reason fortify restoration increases the bonus from the gear so your next potion will be stronger. So your alchemy gear might offer a 39% stronger potions instead of 25%, and 84% the next time)
    6. Make another potion and repeat step 3.

Each potion will be more powerful than the last by increasingly more. You should be making somewhere around 104534463464% increased restoration skill potions (after about 10 cycles), 100 alchemy, and potions worth more gold than you will ever have.

To spread it to your other stats, drink the potion and instead make a fortify enchanting/blacksmithing and you get the rest.

Note that farming of that nature caps at +29% alchemy per gear, effectively limiting how powerful you can become. This limit can be bypassed though with fortify restoration potions. Why fortify restoration potions? Honestly, I have no clue. It's just a bug that loops infinitely. If you make your gear too powerful though, you risk running into classic age old rpg bugs, such as negative damage. It's not safe to bring your gear up too much higher than +75000% to skills and +400000 to base stats.

If anyone wants a guide on the particulars of this glitch, there's one on xbox360achievements.org. While it is a 360 website, I believe the bug works in all versions of the game.

Maybe you're the murderer and it begins when you murder someone:P

Anyway, why do people make such overpowered gear? I mean that 500 damage axe could probably one shot everything.. you can't double one shot them with even more powerful axe:P I'm sentimental though and still using that imperial sword (which is finely polished and enchanted by now) I got off the nasty woman who ordered my execution at the start and killing imperials with it:P

Loving the game so far only one major downside. Why can't you join the Thalmor? They sure seem a hell lot more intresting then the Stormcloaks/Imperials.

I purposefully avoided the Restoration potion bug for both forcefeeding stats and leveling alchemy, because it felt like completely breaking the game with stats way out of proportions. Thanks for the cap though, those 4% extra (4 item per 1%) are definitely not worth it I guess

Because I have attained everything else in the game. And I can also not make that Blood on the Ice questline start, which seriously pisses me off, as I would own every house and be Thane in every city then. Now, there is that stain on my honor, that I do not own Windhelm! It has been that way with Bethesda in Fallout 3 and Fallout NV. The most interesting (and most complicated as well) quests were always severely bugged. I was VERY unnerved when I realized I could not trigger the first part.

Has someone tried to fully explore Blackreach? It is soooooooo huge and navigating with only the local map is not that easy

I know someone that was having that same problem. I believe it has to do with a certain Dark Brotherhood quest where you kill someone that's related to the Blood on the Ice quest. Because of that, it's a good idea to get the house in Windhelm before doing Dark Brotherhood stuff.

I know what quest you mean. It's Muiri's contract from Markarth. You have to kill her former lover and her sister-like friend as an optional target. She is the surviving twin of the Shattershields, the other being a victim of the Butcher. I left her alive, because it didnt feel right. It seems to have broken something

    Hammerfell and High Rock

Hey guys, So far I'm loving this game. I was really surprised because I tried playing Oblivion and couldn't stick to it, while Skyrim? Oh boi I love the game.
But anyway this isn't the reason of my post, I came here to ask some people more into the story of TES about the political situation of Hammerfell and High Rock. I've read that since Oblivion, the Empire lost a lot of provinces but nothing was mentioned about High Rock, and Hammerfell after its rebellion againt Thalmor was successful. What's going on in these 2 provinces?
