    Help with building gaming pc

    Hi everyone

I plan to build a computer. But the problem is i don't know much about the hardware of computers as i'm more of a software person.

Here are some of things i know is that a to build a computer you need a case, ram, cpu, graphics card, psu, cooling, hard drive, audio, cd drive, mother board.

Here is the site that i'm going to be buying the parts from http://pccasegear.com/
and yes i am from Australia.

It would be great help if anyone could give me some advice and parts i should choose.
Also the main games that i will be playing is Wow, Sc2, Diablo 3 when it comes out, maybe guild wars

Cause what i'm most worried about is that the parts won't fit or that they don't work with each other.

I plan to be spending up to $1,500 max Aus

    Thanks

Take a quick look at the Sweet Spot Build thread, and the "Build of the Month".

Bear in mind though that those prices are in US Dollars.
If you want to customise anything, You can always call the store or check on here to see if parts will work with each other.
Mostly you only have to "worry" about the CPU, Motherboard and RAM being Compatible, the rest is pretty much standardised.

Some quick assembly on the given site:

    Lian Li PC-7FN http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?...ducts_id=13624
    Seasonic M12 II 520W http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?...ducts_id=15957
    Intel i5-2500k http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?...ducts_id=16531
    CoolerMaser Hyper 212 http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?...ducts_id=12544
    Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD3P http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?...ducts_id=16885
    Kingston HyperX 2x4GB 1600MHz http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?...ducts_id=16791
    OCZ Vertex2 120GB SSD http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?...ducts_id=14674
    Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?...ducts_id=12711
    LG GH22NS70 DVD Rec http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?...ducts_id=17078
MSI Geforce GTX 560 Ti TwinFrozr http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?...ducts_id=16578

    total: $1400 Aus

I have included a SSD with this compilation. If you don't want to spend >$200 on such a thing, then feel free to remove it and spend the money on other things like monitor, speakers, keyboard, mouse, etc.

    Things that are changable:
    - video card: the AMD equivalent would be a HD6950 for roughly the same price. Spending more on a video card, is something i wouldn't recommend. Good cards are e.g. Gainward Phantom series, MSI Cyclone or TwinFrozr/Hawk series, Gigabyte Windforce series
    - case: pick what you like, but make sure it has a decent air flow and enough room. A good cable management is also a nice bonus. e.g. Antec Nine Hundred, CoolerMaster CM 690 II, Fractal Design Define R3, NZXT H2
    - motherboard: alternative ASUS P8P67
    - cpu cooler: you might want to get a decent fan for the hyper 212. Alternative: Scythe Mugen 2 (but that one is pretty expensive on this site)
    - psu: other good units would be Seasonic S12 series (same, but without cable management), Corsair TX or HX series, CoolerMaster Silent Pro M series
Why do something simple, when there is a complicated way?
    Ryzen 7 2700X | BeQuiet Dark Rock Pro 4 | 16GB DDR4-3200 | MSI X470 Gaming Pro | MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X 8G | 500GB / 750GB Crucial SSD
Fractal Define C | LG 32UK550 | Das Model S Professional Silent | CM Storm Xornet

Don't pay $112 dollars for a modular power supply, please. That's dumb as Hell. Lian Li cases have great wiring solutions, and even if the case you've mentioned doesn't, you could get a superior case with better cable management, and drop the cost of the PSU down to a 650 modular power supply, and still end up saving money.

Sure, $115 AUS is not very cheap. But keep in mind, that those are AUSD and not USD. The same psu on newegg costs $92 USD. I would have recommended the S12 520W (i have that myself, same one without cable management), but it isn't available on the site.
He could go with the S12 430W. That should be strong enough since Seasonic really provides the power they promise. Another alternative would be the Corsair 500CX, but since it costs $82 AUS and in reality is only a 450W unit, i would go with the S12 430W.
Also possible is the Corsair 650TX, but it's the same price as the M12 520W.

Sadly this site isn't that well sorted with parts in general.

    P.S.
Yes, the Lian Li case i mentioned has adequate wiring solutions. Ans since the psu is mounted on the bottom, you have enough room to store unneeded cables.

Try recommending another site. There's some massive thread around here maintained my djiinn that has a list of all the computer wholesale stores by region.

"All" is a bit too much, but it's a very useful list at least. :P

    1. Go to random Harware site. Like Corsair, OCZ or G.Skill - http://www.ocztechnology.com
    2. Click on ''Where to buy''. And then retail stores and/or online reselers for your country/region.
    3. The site shows you a list of stores where they sell their hardware :
