    High-End Gaming Rig

    Here are my current choices, if you have any advice, or would like to remark on something, please do so. (3000$ Budget)

    Processor: Intel Core™ i7-2600K Processor, 3.40GHz w/ 8MB Cache

    - Cooling: Corsair Hydro H100 CPU Cooler

    Motherboard: Asus MAXIMUS IV Extreme Rev 3.0 w/ Dual DDR3 1600, 7.1 Audio, Dual Gigabit Lan, PCI-E, CrossFireX / SLI

    Memory: Corsair Vengeance 16GB DDR3 1600MHz CL9 Dual Channel Kit (4 x 4GB)

    HDD1: Western Digital 2TB Caviar Black 7200rpm SATA III w/ 64MB Cache

    HDD2: Intel SSD 510 Series SATA III Solid State Drive Kit, 120GB w/ Adapter

    DVD Drive: Asus 24x DVD-RW Drive, SATA w/ LightScribe, Black, OEM

    GFX Card: eVGA GeForce GTX 590 Classified 3GB GDDR5 PCI-E w/ Triple DVI, mini-DisplayPort

    (Debating over getting 2x 580s in SLI instead of the 590. )

    Swap to a 2500k, drop down to 8gb of RAM, go with Windows 7 Home Premium (or find me a feature you need in Professional), and get a non-junk monitor.

    Get a 120hz monitor even if you don't plan to use 3d?

    i7 2600k beats the 2500k so why swap? Other then that Home Prem or Professional is good enough for W7... 8GB RAM too unless you need it for more then gaming (video editing, graphic intense software, rendering etc...)

    Barely, but the 2500k actually wins in numerous benchmarks itself.

    Currently he needs to swap out the monitor, because 27'' @ 1920x1080 is trash, and the mentioned suggestions give him the budget to do that with no impairment to gaming performance or capability.

    1000W psu is OP unless you're going 3 way SLI, and if you want powerful RAM get lower latencies than CL9
