6core is definitely overkill. Even now most games that are released only use dualcores and not quadcores (some do now at least). So it will take years (4-6) until games come out that support hexcore cpus.

So unless you have money to throw out of the window I would go with the quadcore, and if you want upgrade some other component with the spare money.

Unless of course you plan to encode a movie on one CPU, render a 3d model on another, and play a game that supports 4 cores at the same time, only then would a hexcore be useful right now (and in the coming years)

No motivation for game designers to make it scale 6 cores if only a small player base can make use of it.

Think it's pretty hard to translate core usage in a console to a PC. Heck didn't the PS3 have "7 cores"?

Wouldn't know, to me a console is just a PC with pre-define hardware and a "custom" OS.

Yes it does. And it has a whooping 256MB of RAM! So I concur, console and PC hardware can't really be compared 1:1.

Sounds good, although I would replace the motherboard with something different; ASRock is a budget spin-off of ASUS and may not perform up to par with the rest of the system.

Go check out some reviews of the ASRock P67 motherboards. ASRock isn't a cheap-ass spin-off anymore. They've used quality hardware with their new series and the Extreme4 mobo is being compared to some of the top-end gamer motherboards (NOT the enthusiast motherboards, which are obviously better, but more expensive). The actual difference between the ASRock and Asus P8P67 pro is so small that it's only worth the premium if you're an Asus fan imo.

the GTX 580 is a waste if you have 1 monitor. A GTX 570 will work fine, and a GTX 560 probably will as well (I'd get the GTX 570 since you can afford it though)
