Why do so many kids think that MMORPGS are Multiplayer games?

MMO's came out to allow ppl to play in a living breathing fantasy world who's enviroments were constantly changing because of the other ppl in the game. Not to get in a group of 25 and kill the same boss once a week every week hoping for some item with a 10% drop chance.

These new MMO's that focus on MM gameplay are so lame.Bring back the online world. You can get your MM fix just by being in a guild or talking in trade or running into another player in the wild. These new kids playing MMO's with there co-dependent personalities and there belife that only rewards earned while riding the coat tails of others are substantial are ruining MMO's.

And that makes me a sad panda.

If you need your fix, then do that you describe. MMO = Massive multiplayer online.

Imagine a Minecraft (alterable world) server with 50 players. It's going to get griefed like fuck, buildings, or entire landscapes flattened by one guy.

Imagine a World of Warcraft server which allowed the world to be altered, with 50000 players.

I like when people use the word "Kid" a derogatory term. "HEY I DON'T AGREE WITH YOU SO THAT MAKES YOU A KID"

It amuses me. It's like when dumbass right wing Americans accuse every Arab being a "terrorist" or Obama as a "Socialist".

No I'm not a liberal. I actually hate liberals more.
Wotlk is the best expansion WoW ever had. GO SHARKS!!!

Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz.

Exactly, contrary to popular belief MMO =/= completely lacking in any solo content whatsoever.
    Garrosh did nothing wrong.

Solo content like the entire leveling experience, or Battlegrounds, or leveling professions? Or the dungeon finder? Because lets face it, the game could just as well put you in a group of bots. People usually don't go much further then saying Hi at the start and 'ty bb' at the end of a dungeon.

It's sad how everyone who doesn't agree with the OP immediately teams up againts him and tries to ridicule what he's saying. It happens in all thread where something creative is posted, too much for WoW crowd to comprehend perhaps.

Actually, seems like both SW and GuildWars2 would have this "world changing" because of player actions, just wait a little.

don't really have to imagine it as that's basically what EVE online is.

there are different types of MMOs

WoW is a "themepark MMO" where you are funnelled down a certain path (if you want to use friendly language or manipulated if you don't)

others like EVE and Star Wars Galaxies are "Sandbox MMOs" where players are not and can and do alter the game world.

The thing is, it is ridiculous what is being said, claiming that MMO's are ment for single play instead of multiplayer.

    MMO = Massive Multiplayer Online.

I think the OP is thinking about the RPG genre, rather than the first part.

although he first said "MMO" in his opening sentance, i think he meant "MMORPG" which is what WoW is. Its not jsut an MMO its got the RPG bit on the end making it what the OP wants it to go back to. I too agree tbh. although its never going to happen since all these things that have taken away the RPG element are so intergrated into society now that removing them would break the game.
