    New Rig :D

Hey guys. So my current PC is around 2 1/2 years old, and even when i built it, it was kind of a budget PC. Now that i have more money to throw away I'm looking to upgrade to something a little better. I've been browsing around for a week or so, and this is the build that i have currently ended up with.

Case: NZXT Phantom PHAN-001BK Black Steel / Plastic Enthusiast ATX Full Tower Computer Case

ASUS P8P67 EVO (REV 3.0) LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
    CPU:
    Intel Core i5-2500K Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz (3.7GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor BX80623I52500K
    GPU:
    ASUS ENGTX570 DCII/2DIS/1280MD5 GeForce GTX 570 (Fermi) 1280MB 320-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video ...
    PSU:
    CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX850 V2 850W ATX12V v2.31/ EPS12V v2.92 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC High Performance Power ...
    Memory:
    CORSAIR XMS 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2000 (PC3 16000) Desktop Memory Model CMX8GX3M2A2000C9
    HDD:
Western Digital Caviar Black WD1001FALS 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive

COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Plus RR-B10-212P-G1 "Heatpipe Direct Contact" Long Life Sleeve 120mm CPU Cooler Compatible Intel ...

Feel free to suggest tweaking and such as long as it doesn't bump the price up too much.

650W power supply is enough for that - 850w is enough for three of those gpu's probably

change ram to 1600mhz, 2000 is overkill and not needed

consider a msi twin frozr II or III gtx 570

    otherwise it's amazing

Ha! I'd like to see anyone fitting three DirectCU II-cards in one comp. But yea, both TwinFrozr and DCII have similiar cooling, but the TwinFrozr is only dual-slot.
But 750-850w is to be recommended for dual 570, I think it'd be to small for three. But either way, I agree that 850w is simply too much for a single 570.
And I also agree on using 1600 MHz RAM.

Cool guys, thanks for the advice.

Changed GPU to: MSI N570GTX Twin Frozr III PE/OC GeForce GTX 570 (Fermi) 1280MB 320-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

    Changed Memory to: CORSAIR XMS 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMX8GX3M2A1600C9

Gonna keep the PSU in case I get some extra coin to buy another GPU and sli them.

I could fit 3, not that I would though.

I should never have posted that pic of my DC 11 Now I feel sad everytime someone bashes it's size

OT: Looks like a pretty solid build. As Demon mentioned, go with 1600 MHz RAM, everything above that is overkill. And while 650w is plenty to power that rig (same for mine) i'd personally go for a 750w. Just because those 20 bucks extra (or something like that) will save you the price for a new PSU if you should ever upgrade you GFX to a new generation, or buy another one for SLI, and it saves you the hazzle of switching PSU, which can be quite annyoing -.- Why buy a new PSU that's 50 or 100w larger than your current one everytime you upgrade, when you can just spend the 20-50 dollar premium and get a big one from the start? PSUs doesn't get outdated like GPUs and CPUs, but they can become too small.

Can I advice you on the HX750w 80+silver instead of the TX850w?

The silver-rating doesn't affect how much juice it can deliever, but how much is wasted from the wall, meaning, cheaper powerbill.

850W is enough for 3x GTX 570 if you don't overclock everything and don't run furmark + prime95 at the same time. Though this will push a 850W PSU to more than 90% load, which is not healthy for the PSU in a long term.

I had installed a DCII 580 for a friends boyfriend before :P But it was in a silverstone raven-case.

And I always advocate that you should get a PSU to fit your build, not your budget. Having a PSU land at 50% during full load is the worst thing imaginable, especially compared to the 70-80% sweetspot, and can reduce the lifetime of your PSU, being money wasted rather than saved.

Will the HX750w 80+silver be enough if I eventually decide to buy another 570?

Did u thought 'bout possibility of getting 560 Ti OC versions from Gigabyte SOC or HAWK from MSI and later upgrading to SLI?

I suggest to get a second hard disk, don't have to be that much memory, for your OS. That way, you can use your 1 TB disk as data.

If you have the money to spare, buy an SSD of 40 GB. It should be more then enough to install Windows or Linux on it.

If I'm not mistaken, and correct me if I am, the Corsair XMS are 1.65V memories, which means that they will run at lower frequency in a Sandy Bridge rig (which is 1.5V in regards to memory).

A better buy would be any of the 1600 MHz memory from G.Skill (not sure if all of them are 1.5V, but most of the ones I've been looking at are). Also, if you're gonna be using the 212 Plus, you can fit Corsair Vengeance in there as well. If you pick those though, remember that some CPU coolers might be too big to fit, since the heatsinks on the Vengeances are huge.

2000MHz ram will give you problems you will have to set things mannualy in BIOS. Just go with 1600 to save yourself from problems also 1600MHz rams got better timings. Go with Mushkin or G.Skill.
