Smile Red Orchestra: Heroes of Stalingrad

So as of yet, it is supposed to come out sometime later this year and personally, I can't wait. I look forward to it much more than Skyrim and Battlefield 3 (I don't plan on buying those right away but I would like to at some point). I have played Red Orchestra: Osfront 41-45 and the official mods created for it (Darkest Hour, Mare Nostrum) and love it. It is hands down, the most realistic WW2 shooter I have ever played. It is team and objective based and each side (The Germans and Soviets on the eastern front) has only a certain number of soldier 'types' per team. In other words, there are rifleman (armed with a Mosin-Nagant 91-30 for the Soviets, Karabiner 98 for the Germans etc), Machine Gunners (and MG's actually have to be deployed to use effectively), anti tank soldiers etc and there are a set number of these slots available (One sniper per team).

I digress, but it sets up for talking about Red Orchestra: Heroes of Stalingrad. There are just so many little features that they are adding that will make it really awesome like suppression, blindfire, etc. When you 'advance' online, you actually begin looking more like a scarred, grizzled veteran of many battles. One of the quotes from one of the Tripwire workers was something along the lines of "We are aiming to create the most realistic WW2 shooting (and overall) experience possible" and this makes me so happy.

    More gameplay.

There are more gameplay videos on Youtube.

This will be a PC game designed to be a PC game, if you know what I mean and not some console port. As far as I know, at least one mod will be released alongside the game or shortly thereafter that will focus on the Pacific campaign featuring the Japanese and Americans mostly.

To me, Red Orchestra: Heroes of Stalingrad will kick COD in the throat.

So they made it into an own game now? I remember when RO was still a UT mod.

While WW2 almost feels fresh again after the past years of Modern Warfare, it hasn't got me excited in any way just yet.

Yeah, the actual game was released in 2005 and a number of official mods have been released over the years, with Darkest Hour being the best one (and the game with servers that actually have people on them; as much as I love the game, it is dying).

It has a release date now! August 30th of this year with a price of 39.99$ US
Coincides pretty nicely with the start of the actual battle (Battle started on the 23rd of August 1942).
