How do i make a Minecraft server?

Me and my mates just bought MC and really want to play on our own server. When you go onto multiplayer idk how to play 2gether. Any1 know how to make one or where i can get a easy guide?

I suppose you didn't want to waste time on the official MC forums, so I'll submit this.

You can whitelist names when everyone has the legal MC. (People who are on cracked server can just change their name in 10 seconds, so whitelist wouldn't work)
