So uh... is anyone going to mention the bug I found in the client? Or are we just going to ignore that and hope it goes away?

Virus scans go off about everything, nothing can be done Curses end. You would have to contact the programs company and report a false positive. My virus scan on my PC goes off about everything, always false positives.

I don't think that's a false positive. I've scanned the setup twice now and it brings up that same bug.

I just downloaded it on another PC in my house and one of my rommies checked it all out (geek squader) and says it's fine. I'm not sure what to tell you besides no one else seems to be having that problem right now, so something must be up your end. I'd probably post it right to curse since it's more their end then us and see what they say.

That looks exactly like a false positive to me.

If only a single antivirus program out of 42 different ones detects it, chances are it's a false positive.

PS: Either the AV detects it or it doesn't. Multiple scans won't change the result.

Well, at least I know who to blame when things go horribly, horribly wrong.

    P.S. It's not me.

(and yes, i'm certain my comp is clean, and have been for years outside of the couple virus i got out of sheer stupidity and overconfidence over the years....)

IF you have no clue (like 99,99999% of the population out there), stop thinking you are some kind of computer genius that know better, you aren't, you are just the prime targets of all the scammers out there.
I know I'm kicking up an old thread to reply on a post by a user that's since been banned, but since I feel personally attacked by this, I just had to reply.

I actually do have a clue. I work in IT and I have for some time. My job consists of IT, and I'm actually quite good at it, so yeah, I DO know what I'm talking about.

I hate to "necro" my own thread but it appears that the Curse Client has once again tried to screw me over. I never have any problems with the game itself or any of the addons I've downloaded but not too long after using the Curse Client, it tries to compromise my account. Then I got several errors when trying to load World of Warcraft so I had to uninstall that. I'm going to reinstall it but I think it's safe to say I will not be downloading the Curse Client ever again. It's not worth having them try to steal my account.

How exactly do you know that?
Don't spread rumors like that without providing a source.

Note: The user above was not infracted for his post above. His ban was incurred from a different thread.

I have the same problem. My son put curse client on my computer with wow. I've un-installed curse client. Now, everytime I turn on my computer a window pops up that wants me to install curse client again. Plus, since I did uninstall it, I've been having problems with my mouse applications and also problems with loading. My avg says something about broken links and even had one red alert warning from curse client. Their program has definitely been compromised. some type of Trojan. I've noticed there are alot of people having the same problem. At this point, I don't know how to stop the curse client window from opening up and hijacking my computer. Anyone have any suggestions?

The virus scan is most likely a false positive, unless the client wasn't downloaded from Curse.com but from a random phishing site instead.

For the uninstall issue, see http://clientsupport.curse.com/guide.aspx?id=31
