Nvidia GeForce GTX 590 Comparison (Warcraft, Starcraft, Rift, Witcher 2, and more)

So, Jesse Cox posted a cool comparison of the Nvidia GTX 590 for a couple of games. WoW, Starcraft, Rift and the Witcher 2. Really gets me interested in this card. I have a GTX 290, time to upgrade? What say you?

Kepler (600) series is schedueled for Q4 2011 tho, but dont be suprised if its as late as Q1 2012.

Would rather get GTX570 or GTX480 (these are really cheap now), and be mentally prepared to add another for SLI pair later if you need it.

Difference in price is very big, but difference between 100 and 150 fps with vsync off is irrelevant on a single 1920x1080 monitor. You'll need GTX590/R6990 only if you're playing spanned across multiple monitors or at 2560x1600 res. Also the most expensive graphics cards are the piece of computer hardware that loses it's value fastest, GTX480 was $500 year ago, but the latest cards with vastly improved cooling are $300 now.
Never going to log into this garbage forum again as long as calling obvious troll obvious troll is the easiest way to get banned.
    Trolling should be.

Dont go for 470 or 480 imo, they perform very well (Personal experience on 470). But they are hot and power hungry, so go for the 500 series.

A 590 is vastly more powerful than a single 580. However, from what i recall, 2 580's beats 1 590 (since you get 2 full speed 580's as opposed to 2 downlocked 580 chips). 3 580's seems to come out at about the same result as 2 590's.

However, the money sink for a 590 is quite massive when you've still got something like a 290 after all this time. If you're prepared to deal with the flak people will give you for going for a 590 over a 6990 because "It performs worse durrr" (failing to realise most of those issues were down to immature drivers), then by all means go for it. If you're just looking for a hearty upgrade that's cheaper, go for a 580. Considering some of them can remain very cool and quiet with their custom coolers (such as the MSI Twin Frozr 2) neither heat or noise are an issue. It's only when you get into triple sli where the cards don't have a dedicated slot between them that heat becomes an issue.
One 590 is better than one 580 sure. But you have to take in account that 590 is a double graphics card, meaning SLi. And when you go for SLi you only get about 25% performance increase, but with the 590 its less. 2x 580 is alot better than 1x 590.

Core Clock speed on a 580 is depending on which card(lets take mine) 795 Stock. And the 590, 604mhzX2 if i remember correctly.

But the price on the 590 is crazy.

You get more than 25% lol... Are you stuck in 2005 or 2006? :P

I don't get it. Are you trying to troll?

SLI scaling is well beyond 25%

580 SLI is better than a 590 but that's because the 590 have slower clocks in order to keep its TDP in check.

    1. one 590 is cheaper then two 580's
    2. the 590 is the only single Nvidia card to support triple screen surround
    3. SLI scaling is WAY above 25%, in some cases SLI with fermi can nearly double frame rate
    4. Dual 590's are the only way to get quad SLI on a ATX with out a special PCIe adapter
    5. they don't explode when overclocked
