    Do I need to upgrade?

I am thinking of upgrading my PC a bit, but just want to know if I am really going to notice much? I would really appreciate some feedback/suggestion.

    Current Spec:
CPU - QX6700 2.66ghz Extreme Quad (Running at stock currently)
    Mobo - NF68 EVGA 680i(a1)
    Ram - 4gb 800mhz Corsair (62bit system)
GPU - Radeon HD 5850 (Not looking to upgrade this)

I mainly use my PC for wow, and I get ok performance from it. Set at High, 50-60fps generally, 20-30fps 25man raiding.

    I found a nice bundle here - http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/p...BB-I7264K.html

What do you think? Am I going to suddenly see amazing things? Or am I going to gain a small amount and be £500 poorer!

Or should I upgrade with something totally different?

With that bundle you'll get that 50-60fps speed in 25-man raids too, that's what you'd gain.

Also the bundle smells a bit like "getting rid of too expensive parts nobody wants", here's bit saner version from same store:

    i5-2500K CPU instead of 2600K
    http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/p...23i52500k.html

    Same Asus P8p67 Pro motherboard

Basic G.skill RAM instead of expensive extra-special Corsair sticks
    http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/p...l9d-8gbxl.html

Total will be £120 cheaper than the "bundle" you were looking for, with same upgradeability, same overcloackability and same game performance. Where it loses is in 3D rendering and video editing and such, but even in those tasks difference is around 20%.
Never going to log into this garbage forum again as long as calling obvious troll obvious troll is the easiest way to get banned.
    Trolling should be.

As said above, unless you do a lot of stuff like 3D/Video editing, you should drop the 2600k to the 2500k. With that new motherboard as well, which comes with the new(ish) EFI BIOS, you can do a medium stable overclock with one click, so you'll get even more performance if you're not comfortable fiddling with the BIOS.

I would reccommend the stuff that was linked above more than the bundle you yourself linked, OP.

    Scryus.

Yep, I am going for the parts recommended here after looking into it, the only gain between the CPU's seems to be HT, which I have read a few times seems to cause some issues with gaming occasionally. I do fraps and render, but not enough to spend the extra!

The only thing I am trying to find now is if my existing Danger Den waterblock will fit the new mobo/cpu, it seems it likely wont!

Ok, so I upgraded today with the parts suggested. As Windows 7 boots, I get a very fast BSOD and a reboot. I have been searching for info and it seems that Windows 7 needs a new install after a new motherboard.. Is that correct? I am sure I have just switched them over in the past?
