Your comments, more and more make it seem that you just have a problem with any sex scene at all in a series. Not really asking whether they were needed and had any actual importance to the plot at all.

And answering your general questions, because I didn't see them the first time. Yes, I do think sex scenes definitely have a place in modern television. There are some very intimate things that take place between two people during times like that. If a show refuses to show those moments audiences can lose some serious depth to those characters. And you can learn a lot about a character through a sex scene, that might otherwise take a long time to show. When creating tv shows time is important. And they need to tell as much as they can in as short a period as possible.

The sex wasn't as frequent as you made it out to be. There is a lot of nudity, but like the poster above (Davoo2080) stated; HBO makes it's shows with the adult audience in mind. In terms nudity in television, I think its perfectly fine. (That is if said viewer is of appropriate age). Considering the fact that there are things on TV that are much worse than "boobies". That being said; If you're of appropriate age and watching these types of shows, you should not be horrified nor disgusted by these scenes because they are in fact, a way of life.

P.S: The sex scenes played a huge role in character development.

In the real world, adults have /gasp sex. They get horny. Sometimes the relationships aren't even healthy, but they exist.

I find it odd that you're ok with seeing a kid pushed out a window, people having their throats slit, beheadings, and other graphic violence... but a woman's unclothed body (the most beautiful thing in the world and completely natural) disturbs you... or even the mere suggestion of a gay couple doing what comes natural to them.

And this isn't HBO. The books have a little more adult situations than they even show on the series. For better or worse.

I'd love to see someone do a cable series on the Bible, and watch people rage at the sex in it. LOL (Uh... it's in there too)

There is only one scene where I liked the sex scene (not a fucking pervert like most men) was between Khal and Emily.. Emily trying to please him instead of the barbarian sex with no love. For all the rest of the scenes, disgusting, but needed.

If you're speaking of beautiful of the Emily scene, I do agree. It's how the women presents herself that's beautiful.

Scene in the 4rd episode, I think? Where doggy style happens and you see him pulling his penis (am i allowed to say that?) out. LOL

I'm speaking soley of a nude woman. People still have this insane notion that bare skin is sinful and dirty.
You are right, there's nothing sinful and dirty about a naked women. But, a full scene of dog** style sex saw from a full frontal view is considered sinful/dirty for most people.

You are right, for me too, woman (including the fact that they can be nude) is the most beautiful thing ever created... but this woman is my wife and the mother of my son... not the girl next door, an actress, etc...

Since the Wowmovie will be for teens and not for an adult audience i guess they will not

    @doggy style

yeah the whole scene is about characterising littlefinger as a dirty manipulating power hungry guy - so i guess you felt what the producer was trying to accomplish

George R. R. Martin is a dirty old man. Honestly, it is was turned me off to the book as well. I really tried to get into it, but it just felt forced and gratuitous. I mean isnt Daenerys like 13 when she marries Khal Drogo? That is just fucked. Call me a prude, but I am not all that into child porn and incest in my fantasy novels.

I don't agree. Their relationship is very important. Because of what their relationship influences what Daenerys does later on. And what happens between her and the Khal shapes Daenerys into the character that she needs to be. If you haven't finished the first season that you probably don't see how their relationship is important because you don't know what happens in the end. As far as character in the series, Daenerys is one of the most important characters. So what happens to her, and the people around her shapes her immensely into the person she will be later in the series. She makes a lot of decisions later on that are reflective of what happens to the Khal.

You are right Daenerys is 14 in the series. But this was also written in the time period when most girls were married off as soon as they had their had their first period. If a woman could conceive she was married. Lifespans weren't very long, and many women died in childbirth. So people tended to marry much younger than we could even think possible now.

Maybe you are right, but you must admit that there could be a more "cleaner" way to show this, no ?

Its a medival world, so 13 year old people are adults
this has nothing to do with child pornographie^^

In a few thousand years, when people get 150, people will be children till they are 30 ^^

I suppose it's a matter of taste. But as far as Dani's age goes, the book is set in an analogous world based on the Middle Ages. A 13 y/o being married off was the NORM back then.

For the series, they aged her character up appropriately, because, well, OUR age doesn't want to see those kinds of scenes with children. Rightly so.

Other things that may be distasteful or disturbing... (like rape, incest, etc), well, they're supposed to be. The incest isn't in there to be titillating. It's there to show you how messed up in the head those characters are. And we haven't seen much rape in the series (yet), but there's quite a few instances in the novels. All of them are supposed to be disturbing. But war is hell, and that was common in war in those times.

There's really no need for a thread on just this part of the show when there's a 59 page thread on the series in general. If you wish to discuss it, do so there.

Also, it's HBO. Almost all of their original series have nudity. That's kind of a known fact when going into things.

    Closed.
