Best Gaming PC out there on a 500 Quid Budget

    Hey there,

I was wondering if anyone knew a pre built gaming PC out there that would be great to play WoW and Rift on with a price range of around 400-500 GBP. Likewise, if its cheaper to buy parts what parts should I buy to make the most out of my money.

    Thanks

    Check the stickies:

If you really do want a pre-build, I'd suggest looking at your local store or an online-shop you use to check what they have to offer. Then come back here and we will tell you how to build something better.

Quid = Great British Pounds, same as how Bucks = Dollar :P

Comment / Advise on these computer parts

What I need: A PC that's capable of playing WoW on high settings in a 25 man raid with 30+fps (I don't notice anything higher than 30-35 fps tbh) / Also a PC capable of playing Rift with 30+ fps as well on medium - high settings

I'm a total novice when it comes to PC parts, I was considering buying a pre built PC but it seems that buying the parts yourself are cheaper. So if you guys can please look at the parts below and tell me if they're all compatible (All fit in the case, cooler matches, etc.) and are able to give me what I need from the games that I play.

Case: Silverstone Lascala LC10B-E Desktop Black Case w/o PSU
Power Supply: 550W Alpine Silent PSU with 120mm Red Fan 24+4 Pin Intel v2.03 with EMI
    Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-P67-DS3-B3, Intel P67, 1155, PCI-E 2.0 (x16), DDR3 1866/2133, SATA 6Gb/s, RAID, ATX
Processor: Intel Core i5 2500K Unlocked, S1155, Sandy Bridge, Quad Core, 3.3GHz, GPU 850Mhz, 6MB Cache, 95W OEM
CPU Cooler: Gigabyte G-Power Pro Heat Pipe CPU Cooler Blue LED+Fan Control All Intel & AMD
RAM: Corsair Memory XMS3 4GB DDR3 1600 MHz CAS 9 XMP Dual Channel Desktop
    Hard Drive: 1TB Samsung HD103SJ Spinpoint F3, SATA 3Gb/s, 7200rpm, 32MB Cache, 8.9ms, NCQ
    Optical Disc Drive: Samsung SH-D163C Black, 48x CD-ROM 16x DVD-ROM, SATA, OEM
    Graphics Card: 1GB Gigabyte GT 440 OC, 40nm, 1800MHz GDDR3, GPU 830MHz, Shader 1660MHz, 96 Cores, DL DVI-I/ HDMI

I'm also wondering if this rig can go above and beyond what I'm needing and if so how much higher?
Also is this rig upgradeable should I wish do to so in the near future, and how long should this system last?
Lastly, is it possible to downgrade the price of this system if it's actually over specced to what I'm actually needing?

The Motherboard is not upgradeable, that's for sure. If you're going to get an i5 2500k, get a nice gaming mobo, that has at least 2 PCI-E x16 slots. A P67 / X68 board is a good selection. (Also FYI, you selected the wrong mobo for your chip :P)

re you going to be overclocking? If not, a CPU Cooler isn't exactly needed, and you could spend the money better elsewhere. On making your system a little more future-proof say. The RAM is decent, though you could look at some 1600 MHz RAM and do a little better off. Hard Drive, I'd suggest any Western Digital Caviar Black, to me, they've proven their speed time and again. As for Power Supply, I'd look at a decent one- http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16817371015 for instance. The "80 Plus" rating is nice to have, it means that the PSU is at least 80% efficient, meaning less fluctuation in power, and less waste of it. I'd look at the graphics card as well. It's not bad per say... but if you want ultra effects, or even "very high", you may want to look at a bit of an upgrade.

    Good luck with your build!

You saved in on the wrong pieces.
Your Motherboard would not support that CPU - you want a Z68/P67/H67/H61-tagged motherboard.
    Dump the CPU-cooler.
    Dump the ODD.
    Get a better graphics-card. Either a GTS450, GTX460 or HD5770. Anything with a GDDR5 would outperform it, really.
    Get a lower size HDD.

This is all assuming you want to save in money.
