You also want the bezel frame to be as thin as possible, although not extremely thin having 3 Dell U2311H monitors will be nice choice given their bezel's nice clean flat lines. If you're planning on using your old 22 inch monitor for this, it certainly wouldn't be recommended, given the fact that they have different aspect ratios. It's still possible but not recommended.

If you can snag the Dell U2311H for around $200, then yes I would say its a bargain. It's a cheap IPS panel and from personal experience compared to the two cheap 23" TN panels in my home, the difference is noticeable. But it is a "cheap" IPS panel and the quality gains you get from this and say a Samsung PX2370 are marginal at best. Dare I say video quality is probably better on the Samsung screen. If you're moving upto the $240 mark then consider other options. The Samsung monitor I've mentioned becomes a strong contender for sure but for triple monitor gaming, i'd avoid given it's bezel design.

Lastly on the question of DisplayPort technology. There are two revisions at the moment. If your GPU and monitors have display version 1.2 (not sure if the Dell U2311H has this) then yes you can daisy chain your monitors (pointless for 2-3 monitor setup). Display version 1.1a displays can be part of the chain if its the last monitor. For the monitors in question in terms of display quality and resolution, there is no advantage over HDMI and DVI connections. Bear in mind also that back in 2010 a number of consumers reported problems using Dell's U2311h interface. It was a software issue and whether it was fixed properly remains to be seen.

Lastly, HDMI connections are only useful for high resolution monitors, or monitors that have inbuilt speakers. For a gaming PC on 23" of real estate this has very little use. DVI would be fine.
    Thanks for the information.

I won't be using the old Asus monitor I'm using now. Keeping this PC and slowly upgrading it for the lady.

Definitely going to get two for now, sucks that I'll have to pay up the ass to get them (considering the fact I won't be able to get them before their sale end date). The U2311H isn't that kind of monitor where you need to customize the display settings like crazy before getting it perfect right? I didn't have to do anything to my old monitor (Asus VW222U).

The UltraSharp monitors always go on sale every few weeks. If you are willing to wait a month or two, they will be on sale again.

Yeah, I have about a month or a month and change until I can get the components. Hopefully by then they'll be on sale again.

Out of the box performance is quite good there is very little calibration infact there is little you can do unless you purchase professional software to increase the colour accuracy. Not recommended and pretty pointless unless you're a complete technophile. You may get an orange and blue tint in the bottom corners of your screen, which is noticeable when playing dark corridor games or anything else which is displaying darkness. But not all monitors come with this issue. If it does, there is little you can do.

Like I said, I use it, I'm happy with it and you'd not find much better other than the Samsung monitor i've mentioned, which is in the same price bracket.
