Question Need some Help with a New Build have ideas but need input.

First time posting here but long time reading. Had a mishap happen recently due to lightning coming through an improperly grounded cable line, no idea if they are going to reimburse the cost or not. My previous comp was a dual core amd 3ghz 4gb ram and 5850 ati 1gb, so wasn't too fast, but wasn't too slow either. As the title says though, looking for help have an AMD lined up, trying to stay in budget of around 700-800$, would like some opinions and input if i should avoid this build or not.
Would post links but sadly the post count isn't high enough yet.
    CPU/CASE/MOBO/RAM/HD
    AMD Quad-Core A8-3850 2.9GHz Radeon HD 6550D APU
thermaltake Midtower v2 case (450psu included)
    8gb ram ddr3 1333mhz
    1tb seagate hdd
MSI A75MA-G55 AMD A Series Socket FM1 mobo

    GPU
    6850 ati 1gb xfx series
    New PSU
Thermaltake W0382RU Modular Power Supply - 750 Watt, 140mm Fan, 80 Plus Bronze, Active PFC
figured it could use a better one just in case of grabbing another card later

    Liquid Cooling Heatsink
Corsair CWCH50-1 Hydro H50 CPU Liquid Cooler
looked great for the cost, and i like quiet

Apologize that can't have links but all this stuff is on Tigerdirect. all of it is averaging out to be about 738$ w/ shipping.

I know Intel is a lot better atm, but I have never really built an intel based, so if anyone has some suggestions toward around the same spec's and cost would be great.
Would prefer at least a quad based of 2.8ghz, 4-8gb ram, gpu seems fine but if anyone else has a better recommendation would be much appreciated.

You don't want to go with a Llano CPU right now, Bulldozer is coming in a few months if you aren't in a hurry and could be a much better value. Worst case build with an AM3+ board and a cheap dual core CPU and upgrade when it comes out.

    $700 Build
    Case: Antec 200 $49.99
    Power Supply: Corsair CX500 $59.99
    Motherboard: AsRock Z68 Pro3-M $114.99
    Processor: Intel i5 2500k $219.99
CPU Cooler: CoolerMaster Hyper 212 $49.99 == OVER BUDGET
    RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws 4GB $38.99
Hard Drive: Samsung Spinpoint F3 $64.99
Optical Disc Drive: Sony Optiarc SATA DVD/CD Burner $19.99
Graphics Card: Asus ENGTX 460 768 MB $144.99
    Total: 731.92 USD == 771.91

This is a great Intel based build from the stickie threads, with the ohhh soo awesome I5 2500k

Edit: You can make a few changes if you like or even swap the video card / or ditch the hyper 212 if you do not plan on overclocking and maybe put it towards a even nicer video card. If you have any questions ask

LIKE THE PLAGUE. But seriously, the A8 is a low-end cpu + low-end gpu. Not going to do you any good for gaming, unless you want the cheapest laptop you can get. Go for the build quoted above and you won't regret it, maybe spend a little more than the GPU if you can, $200-250 seems to be a sweet spot for great WoW gaming.

Author of the aforementioned thread. If you're willing to spend a bit more on it, I'd get a 1GB 460 as opposed to the 768, which is a lightweight version, in laymen's terms.

Also - TD is typically more expensive than newegg.
Also, Micro Center has phenomenal deals right now if you have one near you (2500k for $179, plus $40.00 off when you get a p67 mobo with it)

The 212+ can also be gotten at MC for about $24.99, to compare to above.
That's a $100.00 savings from the above build, which you could toss towards getting a 560ti instead of the 460 (around $100.00 difference)

Just throwing it out there - But otherwise that $700.00 build is pretty righteous and will serve you quite well!

My god. If I could get that deal north of the border I would be upgrading my 930 right now.

ya if you go with the 700 build I linked and were able to squeeze the extra funds for a http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814127594 560ti you would have a great gaming machine that will last you a good while and can be upgraded later down the road instead of having to buy another one. The 460 is a good card do not get me wrong but a 560ti is even nicer )P

I second what Naadra posted, if you can spend a little more than $700 maybe upgrade to 8GB RAM and get the 1GB version of the 460.

It all depends on if either the Cable company in my area reimburses me for their faulty grounding job; hence getting more due to old computer value was over 800$.
The case from above posted seems alright, but i was more looking at "Rosewill CHALLENGER Black Gaming ATX Mid Tower Computer Case, comes with Three Fans-1x Front Blue LED 120mm Fan, 1x Top 140mm Fan, 1x Rear 120mm Fan, option Fans-2x Side 120mm Fan" being it comes with a few fans.
Was also looking into a evga 560 ti in replace of the 6850, wasn't really interested in the 460 768mb version at all. Though i don't believe that case comes with a PSU so one that one above could do well enough if it can handle it good enough. If anyone cares to clarify that being fine for it. (read the 500w or greater, but just checking as other things use power too and will be OC'ing the cpu :-p)

ATM it's at $856.40 which is great considering a few adjustments.

So recap on what i've gotten
    CPU/Mobo/HDD/Heatsink/PSU as above
    The 560ti 1gb
    8gb G.skill 1600mhz
    Rosewell case
    Artic silver 5 thermal compound.

    How does that sound?
